I don't usually get caught up in this kind of thing, but these people are dispicable. I realize every fandom has a bad bunch, but if this kind of stuff was said over here about an opponent, we would have enough class to remove the posts or never allow it to happen. Whether they deserve it or not, you've more than earned the title of worst fans in the Big East
Congrats on your win tonight Pitt fans. I'll sleep better tonight knowing I don't have to associate with you.
From pantherlair.com...
"Go after McNeal and foul that scumbag out"
"Bury those jagoffs Pitt!"
"F You Marquette"
"Dominica you poontang. Go blow Spitzer
They are definitely the trailor park of the Big East.

Another example why teenagers should not be allowed to have computers in their rooms.
That's why I hate losing this game. I hate Pitt fans more than any other fan base in the nation. They're just a bunch of dirty scum bags. Even the majority of UW and Louisville fans have much more class than Pitt fans.
Well, they ain't called the Oakland ZOO for nuthin'...bunch of crazy animals.

I cant wait until Gtown kills them. I would rather cheer for overated piece of crap Hibbert than Sam "i have one move and it involves the refs not calling me for travelling" Young.

Hilarious, some guy on their board calls us out for having this thread. Apparently hypocrisy isn't taught over there.
If you're a human being, with an ounce of an intelligence, and you can't understand that some of the things said over there are D-Bag worthy, than you've got reservations at the Stupid Hotel...permanently.
I didn't go to the site and I'm not going to, but the only quote you listed that I have any trouble with is the last one. That one is probably over the line. There's many times I have hoped that MU would get an opponent to foul out, and if swearing is allowed on their board then so be it. I know I swore a few times this evening - I just didn't type it.

The state of New York hasn't seen a team so good at losing championship games since the Buffalo Bills. After tomorrow, the proud group of New York kids that love to play in the Garden so much will have been to the Championship Game seven times in the past eight years, losing six and winning one. Unless someone gives Pitt a chance to beat Georgetown, who is playing hungry, is less fatigued, and wants to avenge a loss.
GREETINGS MUdish!!!
Pitt fan here. Perhaps before trashing our university and our fan base, someone who displays a proud Pittsburgh graduate as his icon might wish to reconsider his opinion. Good luck in the big dance Marquette. With that crying head coach, flopping, wimpy point guard, and thug forward, you'll need it. Oh, and Mr. Ditka says, "Go Pitt"!
Thanks for stopping by Fnihost. Obviously no reconsideration needed.
Pot, meet kettle...kettle, meet pot.
Seriously though, thanks for helping prove my point. Enjoy getting beat by G-Town tonight,
Wait, we have a thug forward?

I guess we are pretty thugish when you compare us to the group of model citizens Pitt puts out on the court.
Calling Lavance Fields.....
From reading their boards, I'm guessing they are referring to Fitzgerald. No joke.
Anyone calling James out for being wimpy last night is a complete idiot. Say what you want about the way he used to cramp up, but, despite his shooting struggles, that kid played very hard last night, and you'd have to be blind not to see that (or at least have your vision clouded by James-envy).
Pitt's playing about as well as anyone right now. I don't think they'll beat GT, but they're also coming off of three tough games three days in a row. After last night, I'm still optimistic about our NCAA chances. We could get some bad matchups, but I still think this team is capable of making a serious run when we play with intensity.
pYou guys enjoy watching too. Unfortunately for you, that's ALL you can do. Maybe you can get that idiot Cubillon to do that stupid dance for you to keep you entertained. He'll be well rested. Personally, I don't really care that you are rooting for the Hoyas. I would too if I were you. But wouldn't it be nicer if your team actually showed up last night and was playing for the championship?
Love,
The Pot (or am I the kettle?)

Maybe Krauser will come back and blow Cubillan a kiss. I'm not a huge fan of Cubillian's antics but you have had your share of jackasses over there at Pitt.
You know what would be nicer? If your team ever showed up for the real tournament. What happened last time we played you in that one?
I hope Fields doesn't beat up his girlfriend or anything before Sunday. That might screw up your seed.
all it took was one a-hole to prove that the title of this thread is correct. Did anyone on this board to go over to flame at pantherlair? Nope. We're like 6-3 against you the last five years, but we don't go over to your board and taunt. Have fun losing the championship game of the tourney and then getting bounced out in the first round while we move on. Stop by my house someday and I'll show you videos of MU playing in the Final Four of the NATIONAL tournament.
Armpit? More like a-hole of the Big East.
Although some of them aren't too bad. We got into a friendly pissing match with some of them at the bar. Some pretty cool guys. The vast majority though are a-holes though, yes.
If any of us were going to post over there, we'd have to use small words and talk real slow so they might be able to understand us, it's not worth it.
The Pitt Panthers...The Buffalo Bills of the Big East. That's a nice label to have.
Fitz a thug, thats histerical....I wish we had a thug forward, would be nice. Hey Pitt Fan, please tell Young there is this great new product called ProActiv, I talked to Jessica Simpson and she said it works great. If not I have a new pair of skis I'd like to try out on his face.
Hope you all enjoyed the game tonight....BTW calling pitt the armpit of the big east inspired me to come here. How do all of your feet taste tonight? Do they go with the crow? And the day someone from friggin Wisconsin calls my town an armpit, says my team is going to lose and then has to eat it is a good day. Off to continue celebrating now. Best of luck in the dance!
Wow. I've refrained because you all seem pretty reasonable but that post re: Sam Young is sick. Pot meets kettle says it all. Hope you all enjoyed the game tonight compliments of the "buffalo bills".
Congrats to Pitt, you played the best and deserved to win. Great job. For those who think conference tourneys mean something, celebrate like there's no tomorrow. Unless you have everything in the world to play for, these conference tourneys are useless and glorified money makers. I'm glad you found time to come over here and post. You've got nothing better to do after your team wins, how nice.
This was what, you're 8th conference tourney final. 2 out of 8 huh? That's great, you were way overdue.
Try not to pull a Syracuse and lose on Thursday or Friday. I'm sure free throw shooting doesn't count for much in the NCAA's.
QuotePeople nowadays are always bringing "facts" into arguments, and since I'm a sucker for fads (anyone wanna compare pogs later?), I'll go ahead and share a few for you all to wrap your heads around (literally).
Three of the four national semifinalists a year ago were conference tournament champions. UCLA - which lost to California in the Pac-10 quarterfinals - was the lone exception.
There were 12 conferences that sent multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2007. Of those 12, only three (WAC, A-10, Pac-10) had a team that didn't advance to its conference tournament championship game advance further in the NCAA Tournament than a team that did. Of those three teams, only UCLA won more than one game.
All six BCS conference tournament champions advanced to the Elite Eight last season. The other two quarterfinalists were Memphis - which won the Conference USA Tournament - and UCLA.
The combined NCAA Tournament record of the six BCS conference tournament champions in 2007 was 24-5. Of those five losses, only one (Kansas' Elite Eight loss to UCLA) came against a non-fellow BCS conference tournament champion.
Seven of the last ten national champions have won their conference tournament. North Carolina in '05, Syracuse in '03 and Maryland in '02 are the exceptions.
Ten of the last 16 Final Four teams have been conference tournament champions, and three of those six teams that didn't win their league title played in the same conference as the fellow semifinalist which did.
Now I'm not saying that you should write this team off if it stumbles on Thursday or Friday, I'm just saying that there should be no small part of your brain quietly wondering if winning this thing is going to have a detrimental affect in the succeeding weeks. Don't give it a second thought; we want to win the Big East Tournament.

And you think conference tourneys don't matter?
[edit] And MUDish- If you hate Pitt so much, why is your avatar a Pitt graduate?
For those who use this site regularly (ie, not Pitt fans) probably know why Ditka is up there. I worked in the Bears front office, I've worked with Ditka countless times, he's a great guy. So he went to Pitt, who cares? Wade went to Marquette, if you're a fan of his, that's great.
What was the point of your thread? Oh yeah, good teams win conference tournaments. You know what? Good teams win during the regular season too! All of those teams mentioned, do you honestly believe they did well because they won their conference tournament? They did well BECAUSE THEY ARE GOOD TEAMS! I know, you're from Pitt, it's hard to comprehend that.
I'll say it again, slowly so you can understand, ...conference....tournaments...are....pointless. Unless you're a smaller conference school and have no other way to get in, or you're a Georgia or Illinois, what purpose does it serve? You improve your seed line a few lines? I'll take a Sweet 16 run over winning a BE Title crown any day of the week.
Teams that win four games in four days usually don't do so hot. Here's some facts back at ya.
Charlotte '97 (lost in 2nd round to Utah)
Arkansas '00 (lost in 1st round to Miami FL)
Syracuse '06 (lost in 1st round to Texas A&M)
With all the Pitt people signing up on our board, we should be selling ad space over here. MUScoop.com...#1 on your internet in Pittsburgh!
What makes you think I'm a Pitt fan? I root for Louisville (if you didn't notice, that information came from a Louisville site). The point of my post was to show that most of the teams that make it to the Final Four won their respective conferences, and that half of the Final Four teams that didn't win their conference were runners-up to another Final Four team.
The regular season champion is generally the most consistent team, while the conference champion is the hottest. For teams like Louisville and Pittsburgh, both of which had major injuries through the season, you should be more concerned with their play of late, as opposed to a few months ago.

To my knowledge, nobody here has said they hate Pitt. We just hate their fans, who are classless enough to wish serious injuries on our players and accuse our coach of being a drug addict. There may be exceptions, but we've yet to see fans of other teams do these things, or come en masse to our message board to make attempts to defend themselves that instead further prove our point, and no other fans have come here trying to convince us their team is better than we think.
Thanks for referencing a blog post for "proof" that conference tournaments matter. While some of the statistics were interesting, it doesn't tell me anything besides UCLA, Memphis, and the Kansas/Texas winner are poised to make a run in the NCAAs. Duh! These teams have been head and shoulders above everyone else all year long. Where are the statistics for the teams like Syracuse two years ago that "sneak up" on everyone and win their tournament by surprise after an unspectacular regular season? While tournament winners might make it to the later rounds, they are typically 6 major conference powers seeded 1-3, which Pitt won't be. And the article also doesn't mention the teams that crap out-Wisconsin last year, Iowa and Kansas the year before, Syracuse the year before. Having the title is nice, but Pitt doesn't fit the mold of the teams in the article, and it's going to take at least through next weekend to prove they're legit.

Does the source really matter? Fact is fact. If someone did original research and posted it here, would you disregard it because it was a forum post?
My fellow MARQUETTE fans...don't let these pitt fans get in your heads. Let their stupid talk go in one ear and out the other. They are arrogant just like Notre Dame people...nothing else to say. Don't get too worked up about it.
Go Marquette!
Card fan, Pitt fan, whatever, I'll stand by conference tourneys not mattering. Bob Knight has been preaching all week on ESPN how useless the conference tournaments are. I think he's won a few games in his day.
I actually have to correct myself, further proving my point. Marquette actually won four games in a row in the C-USA '97 tourney (Charlotte didn't win four in a row that year, but played four in a row, still lost to Utah). While it was a nice accomplishment by MU, obviously it wasn't so great that it was the first thing that came to my mind. Getting torched by Providence four days later sure does though. Fact is, I have fonder memories of MU going to the Sweet 16 in '94 than I do of our C-USA tourney title. Perhaps I'm in the minority here though.
This is all beside the point. The whole point of this thread is that most Pitt fans are idiots. If someone wants to come here and defend what they say about MU's players and coaches, then that'll just prove my and everyone else's points. There's no justification at all in saying things like that about a 20 year old kid. To say it in the first place is moronic, to come over here and defend just makes someone look like a bigger idiot.
I actually hope Pitt does well in the tourney. I hope all 7 BE teams go far. Makes the conference look better, gets all the schools/programs more cash, it's all good.
Go Marquette.
