Title: My thoughts on a phenomenal victory
Post by: PuertoRicanNightmare on March 14, 2008, 08:01:45 AM
o   That was the best game McNeal has ever played at MU. Period.
o   That was the best game Acker has ever played at MU.
o   How did Hillcrest not win the Illinois state HS championship?
o   Barro did a great job on Harongody.
o   Hayward had the quietest 15 points, 7 rebounds of the year.
o   James played a solid, unspectacular game. This is what we need from him.
o   Is Doris Burke that ugly or is she just not Erin Andrews?
o   I'm glad to see Matthews being more aggressive offensively...10 shots...hope he keeps it up.
o   When McNeal got hurt, holy moly, that was scary. Good to see him shake it off. Hope his teammates took note.
o   Is it me or is that Big East tournament logo a good one? I love how they have a cab in the logo.
o   Interesting that MU claimed to take from some of Len Elmore's comments during the Syracuse game. There was a lot of bellyaching about him on both boards, but I thought during that Syracuse game he was one of the few analysts who pointed our obvious flaws. And I thought he was good last night.
o   Looked like a bigger Marquette contingent than the Seton Hall game. Can Tall Titan confirm?
o   Also, I heard our fight song a few times, is there a house band or are our band members there?
o   Buzz Williams sure is an enthusiastic sonovagun. When Acker rimmed in that three from the corner, it looked like Williams was going to come out of his shoes.

Great, great, great win! With the Pitt victory, we've got a real shot to win this thing, which would be ENORMOUS...to me almost on par with the run to the Final Four.

Yes, Doris Burke is one ugly woman!

They did show our band on TV a couple times.

You know what, Rican, watching Burke in HD was pure torture. And, Harangody's old man is even grosser than the kid.

As great as McNeal was, and I know this has been said in other threads, but Acker was huge, just incredibly clutch last night. I really thought his shooting and play was what pushed MU over the top in the second half.

This time of year, you really need a guy like him who can come off the bench and provide a spark like that, and I would co-stud of the game him with McNeal.

It may seem not to matter, but I hope MU gets put into a regional that plays Friday/Sunday next weekend. If the team wins tonight, I'd like to see them get an extra day of rest next week. It would mean then they'd play Good Friday and (hopefully) Easter Sunday, but when you can make a run like this, an extra day of rest would be nice.

o   That was the best game Acker has ever played at MU.

It was his best 2nd half.  Turnovers and botched defensive/rebounding assignments had me a bit upset with him in the first half.  That said, those transgressions were forgiven with the monster second half shots.  That's 2 games in a row where Acker's shots have been really decisive.

While plenty painful on the eyes, at least Doris isn't as bad as she was a few years ago (or maybe my eyes have gotten that much worse).  Perhaps Padma Lakshmi should become a basketball sideline reporter.

Gotta like our recent success vs. Pitt but their success in the BET/MSG should make for a great game tonight.

why does it matter how the female sideline reporter looks?  it doesnt mattter what the male reporters look like...i mean we had to look at majerus for 2 years while he was a commentator for ESPN.  actually i dont think there is a single attractive male commentator.  if the men were held to womens standards, none of them would have a job.  i think it is unfair that for a woman to get a job doing a telecast, it doesnt matter what she knows about sports (because erin andrews in my opinion is pretty clueless)...all that matters is how she looks.  such crap.

Hey Jutaw, I would say that it matters to me how a woman (not a man) looks because I'm a heterosexual who is turned on and even aroused when I see an attractive woman.  I guess that's why I never really cared what Rick Majerus looked like.  Seeing an attractive woman just makes watching the game that much more enjoyable.  Also, I don't need some "expert" (male or female) preach to me about basketball.  I understand the game just fine.  And what better to go along with my fine understanding during the game?  A fine piece of *ss!

(I thought this was an obvious answer)

well then since i am a woman, it matters to me what the male commentators look like too.  i mean, who cares if they know what they're talking about, as long as they look good.  why do you need to be turned on or aroused when you watch a basketball game?

Jutaw, If I answer that question truthfully, I may be banned from the board.
And since you are a woman and attracted to men as stated, I don't have a problem with you calling out "ugly" people you see on T.V.  That is of course as long as you leave Crean alone.  Now THAT, it one handsome devil!   ;)

Doris Burke is not a "commentator" she's a reporter. And if you're in a visual business, it helps if you're visually appealing.  This goes for men and women. If some toothless hillbilly male was the sideline reporter, his appearance would be commented upon.

In your example, you bring up Majerus. He was not a reporter, he was an expert commentator. He could not be hired as a reporter given his appearance. In fact, I believe his appearance was a reason he was not offered the ND job.

Appearance matters. It is a fact of life. Suggesting it's only women's appearance that matters is a typical "poor us" attitude and ignores the fact that it works both ways.

How many people have commented on Harongody's appearance in the past several days?

i dont see anything wrong with harangodys appearance to be honest.  and commentators still have the cameras on them about as much as the "sideline reporters" so appearance should matter for those guys too.

I got to thinking about this whole thing and I have to agree with FrennA on this. What better to go along with a Marquette win? A fine piece of *ass! Marquette winning seems to make my wife happy for more reasons than we are just happy about a win, she seems to think I become more aroused. Well I'm sure seeing Erin Andrews during a big Marquette win could only help this. This is probably more than anyone wanted to know, but just trying to pass time on a Friday leading up to our big game tonight. Heres to another Marquete win tonight 8-) Lets Go Warriors!!!

Acker was great. That shot when the team literally picked him up after his second 3 was funny. I laughed out loud.

Barro did an outstanding job on Harongody. Also, that play he had where he blocked a shot and then kept it in play before the ball went out of bounds was one of the best defensive plays on the college level I've ever seen. If MU had converted on the other end that play would have made SportsCenter.

Harrongody is Biff from Back to the Future.

Doris Burke has had some botox near her mouth that makes it very hard to look at....and yes jutaw I do want to look at attractive women while I watch a game, and I won't feel bad about it.  I had discussions with my wife about it, you can't tell me there isn't a qualified woman out there that looks better then Doris....bring on andrews.

For the record, after last night, I hate Harrongody's brother way more than I hate Luke. Definitely looks like a guy I wouldn't like.

This guy...This is not my kind of guy.

Harangody looks like a shaved Chewbacca. How does he have any depth perception with his eyes so close together?

I am am turned on that there is a female poster on this board.

The band was there.

Many of Haywards quiet points came from clutch freethrows late in the game. He did not use his head most of the game like going for the dunk over the naired Yeti late in the game. We needed seconds off the clock at that point.

I don't understand how this "run" can be compared to the final four. I was at the kentucky game. I was at the final four. This was just a game that gets us one step closer to possibly be in the BE finals just to be routed by Georgetown... Someone could get hurt between now and then and we could have a crappy showing in the big dance just because we are physically and mentally tired from the conference tourney. I feel we can only ratchet up one seed higher in the NCAA tourney even if we win the BE tourney. Don't take that as criticism just my paranoia.... Trust me, I would rather watch the Warriors (moment of silence please) tonight and tomorrow.... It was a surprise victory to me. I feel more confident against Pittsburgh.

I wouldn't classify what we've done to this point as a run. We've really done nothing but beat a couple teams we should have beaten.

I'm saying if we WIN the Big East tournament it would be a huge accomplishment...just a step below the FF.

Making the semifinals obviously is not a "run."

I'm not getting turned on just because there are chicks on this board. Got to see them first. Maybe its just my age, but I'm picky.

While Tom may dress in fine threads, thanks to Mark, he needs a new do badly.

How many other females are behind these screen names? Someone said ZFB is really a broad. Can anyone confirm?

Don't forget about DJ's little run after McNeal had to go to the bench after his 4th foul.  At that point I got a little worried that we would have an offenseive lapse, but DJ stepped up and made some nice shots.  I think this allowed for Acker to get some open looks since a lot of attention was on DJ going off.  He was a great transition between McNeal's show and Acker's run.  Let's keep it up tonight, when one player has to take a break, another steps up!

It does go both ways, to some degree. Whenever my girlfriend and I are watching college football coverage on ESPN, she goes ga ga whenever Kirk Herbstreit comes on. And she's a football fan who does know her stuff, not just watching because I am. So I guess she reacts to the males much the same way I do to the females.

Truth be told though, my reaction to Erin and the likes is much stronger when it's not MU playing. I'm usually so into the game when it's us that I could care less who's talking!
