Despite loss, Eagles hold position on NCAA board
Written by: Emmett Prosser
Did Marquette catch a break when it lost to Syracuse last week? Seton Hall and Notre Dame appear to be favorable matchups for the Golden Eagles in the first two rounds of this week's Big East tournament.
Perhaps that's why Joe Lunardi still has Marquette positioned as a No. 5 seed (http://proxy.espn.go.com/ncb/region?group=2&teamId=269#269) in his NCAA tournament projections (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology). Currently, Lunardi projects that the Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Golden Eagles.
However, the Buckeyes probably need to defeat Michigan State Friday to clinch a tournament spot. Two at-large bids came off the board Monday night when favorites Gonzaga and South Alabama lost in conference tournaments.
If Marquette loses to Seton Hall Wednesday, a top five seeding appears unlikely.
