Title: Don't expect to see first 10 minutes of MU-UW...
Post by: ecompt on December 06, 2006, 11:11:59 AM
as Fran so astutely points out on the badger board, MU-UW is second game of ESPN's schedule that day, following the Duke game, which begins at 11 a.m. CST. So the network will wait until that game is done (we all know ESPN can't pull away from its favorite coach and team) to pick up coverage of our game.

They definitely will not pull away from any game because the conclusion is typically viewed as more important than the beginning.  If it runs very long, some systems can put it on an alternate station  (for example we put things on channel 210 which is ESPNa or ESPN Alternate).

Will the start of the game be delayed ala the Duke vs. MU game?  They pushed that game back like 20 minutes because of the football game.

Doubtful that they'll delay this one.  After our game is the Youngstown State vs. Appalachian State NCAA Div I (Championship Subdivision) playoff game.  It's in HD and all, so they're giving it lots of time and I doubt they'd delay our game.

On Saturday as they were waiting for Louisville-Pitt FB to wrap up after the hour they sent the state of Texas and the state of Washington to the tip-off the Texas-Gonzaga.  ESPN is not known for their regionalization, but they can do it.  Of course this leaves alums in 48 other states S.O.L.

The delay probably would occur outside "America's Dairyland."

Because ESPN affiliates in WI would be getting TONS of pissed off callers asking why it was delayed.
