Post by: Uncle Rico on July 16, 2026, 06:49:05 AM
Reviews are in and it sounds like a massive flop.

I have no interest or plans to see it, but with the months of public meltdown over the casting, I think you'll see larger crowds than if the right had just stayed quiet. Free advertising. Advance ticket sales are already in the $40 million range.

What IS your problem with fake news? It's fun, and usually more enjoyable than real news.

No, it's true. I have no plans nor desire to see it.

My wife and I did go see "Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass" last weekend, and it was an amusing film. Very old school 90s/2000s style comedy. Not a classic, just a fun film.

The MAGAts have doomed another project.

A made up character in a made up story portrayed as a black women?

UNAMURICAN.

Here's what Yahoo News said in today's e-newsletter:

The Odyssey is pulling a near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety praised its "genuinely grand, gutsy vision"; The New York Times called it "monumental"; and Forbes deemed it a "masterpiece."

Now back to our regularly-scheduled snark.

Honda other hand, it is too much to ask for an accord on the Odyssey.  Even if it seems like your civic duty.

Gonna revoke your passport for that pun. No pilot will take you anywhere.

Hoping this isn't a Prelude to further disagreement between you and tower, but rather through some Civic engagement you two can come to an Accord that's a right Fit for both sides.

I completely missed the months of meltdown over casting. Which I have decided is actually a good thing.

Prelude? Sounds more like a Prologue to me.

Evidently they don't teach literature at USC.

USC Football Roasted for Uninformed 'Odyssey' Post (https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/usc-football-roasted-uninformed-odyssey-162110752.html)

There's one problem: USC's athletic teams are known as the Trojans, and anyone who has read Homer's epic poems, The Iliad and The Odyssey, should know they are not exactly the heroes of the story.

Quite the contrary: The Odyssey recounts the journey of Odysseus, a Greek king who is on his way home after helping engineer the downfall of the Trojans in the 10-year Trojan War by conceiving of the Trojan Horse.

Don't worry, guys, Elon's got this.

Elon Musk's campaign against Christopher Nolan epic The Odyssey just deepened.
The tech mogul wrote on his social media service X that his AI tool Grok Imagine would create a "full-length" feature version of Homer's Greek myth.

Aspire to adopt something you're as passionate about like Elon is about racism and transphobia.

Truly inspiring to see these nitwits drive more people to the theater.  Oriental Theater had lines to get in to see it last night.  Bravo, Twitter soldiers, bravo.

Creating a "historically accurate" version of a Homeric tale is some high quality comedy.

Movie was good, not great.  Not even close to a top 5 Nolan film.

Some of the dialogue was terrible, Tom Holland was not good.

All in all, enjoyable, but not the masterpiece it is being built up as.

Saw it earlier today. As someone whose favorite film genre is horror, I thought it was phenomenal and 100% worth the IMAX ticket.

As far as film adaptations of the Odyssey go, however, I don't think anything beats O Brother, Where Art Thou?
