A confederacy of dunces
That means only 2 pencils per kid for Christmas.
The billionaires are willing to spend as much of our money as necessary to control the world.

^This. Weird Techbro fascists who have circle jerked themselves into believing they will download themselves into computers, create techno kingdoms, and live in outer space.
If you've ever seen Marc Andreessen, you might believe that last one.

Yup. I'm not opposed to data centers; they are necessary. Just build 'em all right next to billionaires' estates, starting with the one you named.

Data doesn't make noise. It's data.

Same with prisons. Plenty of empty space in Mequon and East Troy, for example

The bolded is technically true, and false.
We do not need data centers. Society could go on perfectly fine without them, arguably, we'd be better off without them. The energy and water needs will accelerate the decline of the environment. And it is possible, that the outcomes of the data centers greatly accelerates the decline of society.
But, under a different lens, we do need them. Based on the conceptual ethics of Moloch/Singleton risk, everyone needs to race in what is almost a mutually assured destruction, because the first to achieve global dominance in AGI will essentially be able to rule unfettered. So we will risk all aspect of society and the environment out of fear of losing to someone else. But no matter who wins, we all lose.

Billionaires win. And that's all that matters to many.

Plus data centers are beautiful. More beautiful than windmills at least!

Life without scoop? I don't think so.

With the spree of dental crime, good idea to put them where they are most needed
Door County. Lots of water.
