Apparently five guys in college basketball made 2 mill or more last year. That's going to increase to 100 players????
I think the top talent gets paid. I think there will be some reaches on low and mid major bigs, seeing this year's success with agile bigs, and hoping to catch lightning. I think there will be some players who overestimate their open market value.
Parallel to the first few days of NFL free agency. Overpaying for centers.
(For the humorless among you, that was a play on the word 'center', as there were a number of NFL centers who got paid, and I think there will be a number of mid major centers who get paid)

I would suggest that about 50% already had a deal done elsewhere when they officially entered the portal. Shaka put everyone on notice during halftime of a game in February, which was a clear indicator to agents that opportunity exists at MU. Hopefully, MU has the 3 vacancies filled by Friday.

MU must get dominant/ultra/elite talent and multidimensional ballers. I don't know what we will need to spend, but this has to be done and all options must be on the table.

Money doesn't necessarily equate to success. Indiana spent a lot a got bupkis. We need to identify the right pieces to compliment our young guns. There's talent out there, usurp it. Then we can negotiate a fair price. :)

I think it is extremely doubtful that Shaka eschews the portal again.
I turn 35 on Tuesday, so I certainly hope for some good news. If Shaka cares he'll deliver.
I think we'll announce at least one signing this week, with (potentially) one more departure announcement tomorrow when the portal opens. I'd love it if we get our business done quickly and know who is on the roster this time next week. I know for a fact that a significant portion of players enter the portal already knowing their destination.

First, I don't think the 30% is anywhere near correct in men's cbb. Further, having a do not contact tag doesn't necessarily mean the SA knows where they are heading.

Yes. Not uncommon at all in CFB for guys to transfer out when they see who is coming in. I'd guess this happens in CBB also.

Agreed, with all the smoke around Knowlen Minissale (that's for JB) prior to the portal, I at least expected something there, but even he slow-rolled. (shrug).

For those getting impatient, just look at what's going on (or not) in the Big East. None of the conference's three 2026 NCAAT reps (UConn, St. John's, Nova) has announced a single signing. Neither have Seton Hall, Georgetown or DePaul. In other words, Marquette's got plenty of company. Creighton has announced one signing. Providence and Butler have been relatively busy, but they've lost way more than they've added.
But sure, it would be nice to see someone sign with our alma mater, perhaps starting with Norton Minnussayle.
We're waiting on some 2027's to finish out classes to see if they can graduate early and spend a year in the red with us. #TheMarquetteWay

GTown, Nova, and Hall with commits today, DePaul with one yesterday. Kwame looks like a good one for Nova.
