Might be a nice local/P6 experienced guy for Luke Murray at BC to bridge the gap for the next year.
Nothing but thanks to Tre. Hope he finds a great new home and role.
Should go to Sienna if Nevada gets the job there.
Really good kid. Unfortunately just never developed enough offensively to become a real player at this level.
Quote from: JWags85 on March 31, 2026, 09:11:20 AMMight be a nice local/P6 experienced guy for Luke Murray at BC to bridge the gap for the next year.
I was thinking UMass or Rhode Island. I think MAC or A10 are better levels for Tre
It begins....
Best of luck to him! It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. I'm guessing it'll be back in New England at a school like UMasss or Rhode Island. If he lands at a high-major, it could only be Boston College.
I really wanted Tre to work. Last year during his interview during the show he said "you have not seen the best Tre Norman yet" and I thought he was about to put in insane work this offseason. Hope he gets some great time playing his fina year.
Best of luck, Tre.
I appreciate Tre's efforts at and contributions to MU b-ball. I also think transferring at this time is best for both he and MU. I wish him good luck going forward (and will go cheer him on if he ends up at UMass).
Appreciated Tre's effort.
Wishing him success at his new destination.
Now just like 8 more.
Best of luck, Tre!
Best of luck Tre......great teammate and always had a good attitude.
Hope he has a great senior year wherever he lands!
Tre has alot of suiters instantly.
He can defend well. That goes a long way.

Let me know.
It is pretty clear that for whatever reason Tre was not working out here. That's fine. I appreciate the effort, and hope it works out for him going forward.
Tre could have been a decent 8-10th man for MU, as a defensive substitution and decent ballhandler, in a previous era. Need for more punch off the bench in today's basketball. He only took 9 3s the entire season (making 1). Wish him the best of luck going forward.
Good luck to Tre.
Scoops Eeyores still probably convinced he'll withdraw from the portal and we'll run it back with 1 transfer in next year.
Also shocking to learn a Marquette player has an agent. Thought Shaka didn't allow that. ::)

Will be rooting for him at wherever his next stop is. Really like Tre and agree that we haven't seen the best version yet. Hope we get to see that for him next year.
Feel Tre made no 3s the year before and a couple 3s this year but his defense was solid and he is serviceable. Good luck and Best wishes for Tre. Will be cheering for him.
First, glad for Tre. He'll choose a place where he should get an opportunity to play.
Second, this got me thinking about the question that several Scoopers had asked: "Who would be willing to leave and take a pay cut?"
Well, now we know that Tre would, seemingly because he wants to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond. Or maybe Shaka told Tre that his NIL $$$ was going to get cut even if he stayed, so feel free to explore other opportunities.
Either way, the theory that nobody would leave because of "easy Marquette NIL $$$" has been proven wrong. The cockamamie theory of "I hope I'm wrong but I just don't think anybody will leave" also was proven wrong.
Oh, and it'll be pretty surprising if Tre's the only one to enter the portal.

I mean this is also dumb. Unless we somehow have the money to make 4-5 impact NIL pickups there's no good reason Clark and especially Phillips have to go.
Thankful for some genuinely very important spot minutes for Tre over the years. Just so, so hard to be a good player at this level with such a profound lack of jump shooting ability.

Pearson, Walker, Miletic already signed for next year, correct? Plus Alex Egbuonu and Ethan Johnston. That's nine
I certainly hope that Phillips and Clark stay as well. That's 11. If the minutes aren't there for Phillips next season, he could develop his body and game as a redshirt. Very high ceiling. If he has good offseason, he might be too good to redshirt.
One thing I've never understood on this board is why people tend to group Hamilton and Clark together. They have very little in common, other than neither received a D-1 offer. Clark has a high ceiling. Will he ever reach it? Who knows, but if he had received Hamilton's minutes this year he might be a lot farther along. Hamilton's ceiling is as Division II starter, but he's not there yet. At this point more like an eighth man at an average D-II school, a seldom-used reserve in a good D-II program, neither athletic nor skilled enough to be in the rotation of a winning D-II program.

Tre isn't leaving to take a pay cut for more minutes, or to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond. Let's be real, his NIL got cut and he's just looking for a place to play and get paid to do what he loves, no shame in that.
He got overpaid for his abilities, and performance level, and that's ok to say now that it's a business right?
Also, the cockamamie theories all just came from what we saw in the past- Shaka had the chance to complement elite teams with some studs to go to the next level and didn't.
Coach has his reasons, he's building something (or trying to, as long as people stop calling for his firing) at Marquette. He was building this "schtick" or this haven of relationships and growth.
Alas, it's a 3 headed monster, and the head of the monster is victory.
Just got done watching "the other Hurley" E60 and that's a big part of what Coach Shaka needs.
Don't want to get deep here, but it's in Hurleys upbringing, and we will leave it at that.
Either way, Ole Ole, Tre is gone they say.

So when will you finally stop opining on basketball topics?
As for Tre.. it'll be interesting to see the situation in which he lands. As compared to some other recent transfers.. say EE.. AA.. KI.. their next season I expected very little. For Tre, I think there's a scenario (MM/LM) where he has a big role, and they use him playing bully ball.. and he puts up some points. Like, early on he'll hang 22 and Scoopers will go, 'woah, how'.. but hey.. that kid, ... he'll be good in the locker room.. tough on defense.. and if he's at a level where it's appropriate and the team setup is such.. maybe he gets the green light to just push things and try to get to the rack. Could be a fun year for him.

Yeah I think some on here underestimate how desperate low major programs are. Caedin had offers out of High school at Drexel & Northeastern. After a few years of high major coaching, nutrition and weight room I'd guarantee there will be low major programs that will offer him if he leaves.
Clark we were the only D1 offer according to 247 and he played so little it's more likely he goes down a level but I'd still wager he ends up on a low major roster
You can't teach height and both have it and are worth more to a low major than an 18yr old scrawny 1 star prospect that was the 3rd scoring option on their HS team.
Quote from: #UnleashThePortal on March 31, 2026, 03:11:33 PMThe dominoes will be falling. The roster may very well be Nigel, Adrien, Royce, and Damarius at the end of the week.
It won't be

Quote from: DoctorV on April 01, 2026, 12:15:40 AMTre isn't leaving to take a pay cut for more minutes, or to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond. Let's be real, his NIL got cut and he's just looking for a place to play and get paid to do what he loves, no shame in that.
Perhaps. Which explodes the oft-stated theory that Shaka's too "loyal" or "stubborn" to cut players' $$$.
Quote from: Jay Bee on April 01, 2026, 08:22:38 AMSo when will you finally stop opining on basketball topics?

Tre going to UWM .... Going to be their starter at the 2 guard.
Best of luck to him.

They won't play us as a guarantee game. As long as they require us to play a game at the Mecca, we won't see them on the schedule.
Cannot wait for Tre's first 20-piece at Milwaukee. It's coming (pawz).
We agree. As you said elsewhere, his bully ball style will translate at that level. Like the old guy at the Y who can't be stopped from getting to the basket. Could be like Jamal Cain at Oakland. Different style, different level of competition, could work out for him.
Wishing Tre success at Milwaukee.

I would love to go to a game there - so many memories. In fact, just thinking about it, I think I'll go to a UWM game the next time I'm in MKE to see MU. It'll be 55 years, but I bet I could go right to my old seats like a homing pigeon - what times they were.
The Arena was a great place to watch a basketball game. Just about all the seats were good, and its intimacy made for a loud, effective home-court advantage.
Obviously, Fiserv has numerous advantages, not the least of which is the increased capacity. Though I loved watching Marquette and Bucks games at the Arena, I totally get why it's not adequate in today's environment.

Got me reminiscing - there may have been subsequent times when I was as happy as when at those games, but never as carefree since.
One thing I really miss from the MECCA was the "theater" lighting, where the court was lit up but the entire seating area was dark. Way easier to focus on the court and not be distracted.
95 vs S Fla at the MECCA was amazing
All this Mecca reminiscing reminds me of Kojis taking on Mikan and Chones battling Ewing

That game is probably my best memory of my time at MU. In fact, that game solidified my decision to stay at MU after I had strongly considered transferring. Meanwhile, a young HS sophomore a few states away watched that game with her dad, and it got her interested in looking into attending MU (since she had to attend a Jesuit college per her very devout father). We've been together since 1997.
The following season, we ripped up Santa Clara and Steve Nash in front of a near sellout at the MECCA.
What are the rules on Tre getting an MU degree after a year at UWM???
He has 3 at MU....Can he go a year at UWM and then take a class or two to finish a degree and graduate an MU grad?
Additionally can Amadou presumably do the same thing?

I could be wrong but I feel like MU made a big deal about offering lifetime guaranteed scholarships in the past. I'm sure if Tre let Shaka and his advisor know he wanted to graduate from MU he'd probably be able to.

It might not be true anymore but it was pretty well known years ago. It's why we had to play there in 2011 (and almost choked that away)

In the past they either wanted a return game or to be paid what Marquette regularly pays for buy games. Marquette won't offer them that because they are just across town.
Anyway, there is zero need to play them.

Yep, that was the Bruce Pearl strategy. Go on the radio, beg for a game with no return game demand, then, in private, demand a return game and lie about it to the media. I don't think Lundy is like that.
I would like to see MU and UWM playing annually. Play them instead of some SWAC or MEAC sacrifical lamb we're paying over six figures to bring in.

I understand the argument against paying them the same rate as other buy games but would rather see MU invest that money locally than send it cross country for some poor saps to get obliterated. More UWM, UWGB, Chicago ST, Northern IL, Eastern IL, etc less Arkansas Little Rock Maryland eastern shore and grambling

Forget that commuter school. I'd rather play East Cupcake, San Nobody St, and Little Sisters of the Poor Technical College.
I would rather have a buy game with actual juice on the schedule every season, even if it means an embarrassing upset once a decade. I don't know why the UW school system doesn't demand the Badgers play UWM or other public schools with D1 programs.

Now that it's state law that the taxes supplement UW so they can allocate more NIL funding it seems like it's a taxpayer issue.

The system has enough to worry about. It's not getting involved in UW's non-con basketball schedule.
