Fanta isn't just bad, he's a full scale abomination. I'm sorry but he should not be announcing these games. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. Get rid of the guy and stop torturing us. The fact that he's a good dude,or was great on F of 68 and podcasts, is irrelevant.
So so so bad
Yes, it was fanta who ruined the game for me. Not the 40 three point shots
Fanta is a national treasure and a curse be upon anyone who says otherwise.
With NBC getting the NBA, losing Noah Eagle gave us Fanta.

What a disgrace! first 20 loss season in 38 years
Muggs / you're crazy
Who gives a crap about Fanta? We just watched a 20 loss team !
The team is/was awful for most of the season ( other than a few games). They have 3 returning players that can cut it in the BE, but yah ... Fanta is the issue

I know, but I had to add this prob to our misery.
Marquette shot like crap and that makes everything else even more irritating. This was a bad loss. Horrible way t9 finish the season. UConn is happy though

If you don't like the broadcasters then just mute the stream and listen to the radio call. But you won't do that because you love to complain and start new threads about everything under the sun.

Radio is never synchronized with TV. I don't complain, I bring awareness to significant issues.

Maybe next season as opposed to starting new threads on random topics that come into your mind, just integrate your thought/opinion into an open thread. You could have easily put the Fanta topic into tonight's game thread.

Good thing Crean left Marquette - His 11-21 and 6-26 at Georgia in 2 of his 4 years there, as a more experienced coach than he was at MU? Not to mention he lost 20 games each of his first 3 years at IU.
Fanta doesn't seem that bad to me. I don't get the hate.

I'll bet they're not. I'm guessing they were chomping at the bit to exact their revenge.
Take away the home court and force a young team without a lot of depth to play a second game in about 15 hours and it could have been really ugly.
still better than brando

Love Fanta. The voice in my head when I read all your Caedin complaints is 1,000,000,000 more annoying and shrill than his will ever be.
May he be the voice of the Big East Tournament for as long as he wants to be and longer. Class dude. He rules. Haters don't.

Or because then you'd have to listen to Homer, who is somehow even worse.
Fanta's good as a BE cheerleader. He's not a good play by play guy.

Impossible. Announcers told us that NOBODY wanted to face Marquette in the BET. X made sure they no longer had to worry.
Why do I get this visual that Fanta perpetually carries around a 12 pack of grape soda????
Two holsters of 6 packs on each hip....Like a gun slinger....
I know....I know....Pretty sick.....
What Fanta lacks as a good announcer he makes up with enthusiasm for Marquette. So I give the guy a pass. If I was an Xavier fan, might take a different view.

I don't get the Fanta hate. He is going to position himself as the next big color guy for the NCAA, and he's good at it. He is incredibly likeable. Sure he is a little over the top, but the most memorable guys sell the game they're watching, and he does it.
If you guys don't like him that's fine, but he is going to be this generation's Dick Vitale.

The problem is he does play-by-play, not color. If he was the sideline guy and/or in studio, he would be good. He does have positives he brings to the broadcast, but it is not as the play-by-play guy. He doesn't have the rhythm or feel for it and all the knowledge and passion he has for Big East can't hide that in that role.

You're not wrong that he's not great at describing the play, but I couldn't care less. I don't need someone to perfectly describe what I'm seeing. I know what I'm seeing. I want someone who brings energy and enthusiasm to the moment, and who capably sets up the color guy to (hopefully) offer useful analysis. On that front, Fanta nails it.
But if you need the more traditional play-by-play, I think Fanta is barely 30 years old. He's going to get better.

I hope he improves, since he does many MU games. Still think he is miscast on the broadcast. Improvement is not a guarantee though, see Homer.
You can do way worse than Fanta. Brando is the worst. Each time he announces, it sounds like his first time seeing a basketball game.

But if you need the more traditional play-by-play, I think Fanta is barely 30 years old. He's going to get better.
I hope he does. There are two main things that bug me about Fanta. First, he talks too much. There are so many times where the air doesn't need to be filled or where his partner's voice is needed and he doesn't allow those moments. Second is that he's too excited. Not every shot in the second half is a mammoth moment. That's why Gus & Raft were the best. They knew how to give each other space and when to amp up the really big moments.
I also think Field of 68 did him a short term disservice. They made him their lead announcer every time they broadcast a game and Dauster and TO always gassed him up about how great and professional he was, which seemed to make some of his bad habits worse. Hopefully he'll get better in the next decade because I'm sure he's not going anywhere.
