We're saying this in multiple threads ... but why not?

I never had a doubt. He stated his love for MU repeatedly. One never needed to read between any lines with him. All one had to do was read the lines themselves!

Stevens and Parham will almost surely be back, too. Add in 2-3 good transfers, which I believe Shaka will, and newcomers like Sheek, Egbuonu and Walker ... and we're ready to roll next season.

He may have cost himself some dollars with that comment. I hope MU still takes care of him financially and pays him what he is worth. I would love to have 2+ more years watching him ball for MU!

I bet the deal is already done. That's how these things often work, I'm told.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Lock him up before the end of the season to avoid a bidding war.

Also that NIL not kicking in until 2025 is the reason why. That would have actually given Kolek and Oso more reason to leave because there are significantly larger fan bases and markets that could have gotten them a lot more opportunities with how NIL was structured at the very beginning.

A senior who was predicted to go in the first round of the draft, who's success and potential skyrocketed under Shaka's coaching , who had huge chemistry with the starting pg (and the 22-23 Big east POY) with a crazy pick and roll 2 man game, who just won the Big east regular season & tournament.

Do you think he was going to transfer somewhere else for an extra 200k, and possibly hurt his draft stock in a new system with new teammates? Staring in a local commercial for some pizzeria chain on the east coast would have totally been worth it!

Lol.  Dude, any idea how much Memphis paid PJ Haggerty?  Don't think they'd want someone just as good who is also a hometown kid?

You should probably sit this one out.  Kam and Oso would've gotten paid a lot of money heading into their senior years by other programs.  They are way better than players who made millions by transferring every offseason to the highest bidder.

What were said opportunities for Oso, please list 2-3 at the least.

You are aware that this is the 1st season that players are being directly paid by the schools correct? This changes the game a lot, and we've only seen a single off season of free agency for the Ncaa.

But you're an expert on it!

Quote from: #UnleashJosh on March 11, 2026, 05:13:50 PMWeird how Memphis would have paid Kam, since he never played in the era where schools could pay players.

So guys were just transferring to 4 schools in 4 years and not getting paid? You think basketball players just started getting paid to play at their schools this year?

This is some good trolling. Kudos. Only explanation. Not even Willie is this out of touch.

Who said players were NOT being paid? They were just being paid much less, and in more difficult ways

Kam, oso, and kolek were being paid for their likeness from numerous locations. Kam even did some car wash meet a few blocks away from my house.

Why would Kam or Oso transfer out of their star spots, while already having their NIL deals in place, to go to another school for a similar NIL deals?

Now they can be paid directly. And that changes a lot of things.

Are you this naive about most things? Anybody could pay any college athlete for whatever they wanted to. Not that the NCAA actually polices anything, but the rules make it much harder for players to get NIL money now, which is where the biggest money for basketball players is.

He really should have shelled out more money for a quality education.

Nigel just crap on all the naysayer's cornflakes and then turned around and pissed on their pop tarts. Love it.

Not to mention, how could anything possibly interest someone more than Nigel returning? He is our best player, he is going to be our best player. (We are also going to add transfers but) Come on! What's more important than that?

Well if Nigel were leaving that would be a story that would be interesting, no? Yes he is the best player on 20 loss team. Saying he is going to be our best player is an unknown as we have no way of knowing how the incoming class and transfers will perform next season. He just might be, but another player could be also. What is most important is what the entire roster looks like, not just one player. For me if we want to have a winning season we'll need at least 4 transfers.
