To the naked eye it appears we could finish anywhere from 7th-11th. In my head we need a loss on Saturday bc we want to save that UConn win for NYC.
So let's assume we finish 6-14...
Georgetown is 5-14 but they host PC so they could win and end up 6-14
X plays Nova, they should lose and end up at 6-14
Anyone know what a 3 way tie looks like?

Sad. A 6-14 three-way tie looks sad.

Thanks dad. Got a 404 message.
Over half the league will have a losing record this year. Worst season for BE since realignment.
The coaching staffs and athletic departments need to have some serious and tough conversations about spending, especially since BE programs can spend more of their NIL allotment than some of their P4 peers who have to spend on football.
It's not about spending more. It's about spending better.

There was an extra slash before "tiebreakers".
https://www.bigeast.com/documents/2025/2/18/tiebreakers.pdf (https://www.bigeast.com/documents/2025/2/18/tiebreakers.pdf)
In the specific example (3 way tie between X, MU, and Georgetown), I believe seedings for the BET would fall out this way:
9th seed: X has a 3-1 record (Beat GU twice, split with MU)
10th seed: MU has a 2-2 record (split both GU and X)
11th seed: GU has a 1-3 record (Lost to X twice, split with MU)
In terms of conference standings, all three teams would simply tie for 9th place. The tiebreaker is only used for seeding.
Spending didn't save PC this season... Not that Marquette shouldn't spend some $$$ this spring. The Providence HC position is reportedly already open. Georgetown, and Butler will have coaching changes in the next 12 months.
If Seton Hall and Villanova (big if) can maintain their momentum into next season and Creighton + Marquette return to form (not a stretch) then the conference will be in a much better place.
Hot take: Big East gets 6 teams into the field next season.
It's possible that Butler could also be 6-14, correct? They play DePaul on Saturday. Which could mean a very sad four-way tie.
I mean certainly much worse to be the 9 than 10 or 11 right?

Rejoice. We might end up in a 3 way tie for last in conference. hang a banner.

Shaka's loser tax should go down if we're 9 instead of 10 or 11.

NM Saw Butler was already mentioned
4 way tie looks reasonably likely. Changes errr'thang

With 5 games on Saturday there are 32 possible results. This site would allow you to try any possible combination of results of the Saturday games to see how the seeding would come out.
If the goal is for MU to have the best chance to advance in the tournament, the 11 seed might be the best. The 4-11 seeds are pretty tightly bunched and MU's games against them have shown that they are capable of beating any of them.
A first round win over a 6 seed would produce a quarterfinal game against Villanova. A win as a 9 or 10 would produce a game against St. John's or UConn.
I can't get too interested in considering all the possibilities because MU isn't winning the tournament and who they play in the first round doesn't matter much. They can obviously beat or lose to anyone there. A team without much depth turning around to play the next day against one of the league's top teams is probably headed for defeat.
My Xavier grad daughter keeps asking "are we going to the Big East Tournament" this year?
I am hoping both teams fall in the 7 through 10 seeds, so we get back to back games and no late game that involves a very late train home back to Connecticut.
I was playing around with this https://bball.notnothing.net/bracket_cloud.php?conf=bigeastm and Georgetown seems to fall in 11th under most scenarios, even if they beat a deflated Providence.

In the event of a 4-way tie, Butler split with all three teams above. So the mini-conference is:
8-Xavier 4-2
Butler 3-3
Marquette 3/3
11-Georgetown 2-4
That means Butler vs Marquette for 9/10. The teams also split the season series, so the next tiebreaker is record vs team occupying the highest spot in league standings.
Both were swept by UConn, St John's, and Villanova. But the Bulldogs beat Seton Hall, who is locked into 4th, so they would be the 9-seed against Xavier, while Marquette would be the 10 against most likely Providence.
Thank you. I have been hoping we could avoid the late game on Wednesday, mainly, and also curious whether there was any possibility of being the 8 seed, mainly because I like to sit on the same side as our bench. But I did not have the patience to figure out all these possibilities...
So... looks like GT over Prov = 7 seed for us (sounds crazy) .. Prov win and we're 8. Yes?
So.. 3pm or 5:30pm central time tips on Wednesday.

I believe...
7 seed vs. Xavier if Georgetown wins. Xavier gets the 10 because they beat Georgetown twice.
8 seed vs. Butler if Providence wins. We're the 8 and they're the 9 because of our win today.

That's what I've got. PC wins and we're in an 8/9 tie with Butler and our UConn win gives us the tiebreaker, with the winner playing St John's.
PC loses and we're in a 3-way tie with PC and Butler. We get the 7 by way of our 3-1 mini conference record and play 10-seed Xavier.
