I watched all 3 with Ian, Sheek and Nash and she never asked how do you like school. Who is your favorite prof? I guess it is only important when the Big East announces their all academic team.

I guess I am fooling myself, like FTs, classes don't matter.

The kid has some ancestral roots in Calumet City. Probably some association with Jake and Elwood.

No one cares about those things.  Maybe they should ask his favorite color for you and report on that too.

Wow! The University is asking for charitable donations to support MUBB so we can pay these guys big money to play basketball. I know we have to offer them a scholarship but it seem like a waste of good money as it appears no one cares about those things.

There are more worthy charities to donate too.

Yeah I don't donate to Marquette.  They got my tuition.  I'd rather my money went to people's hands instead of overhead.

Also, that's not how any of this works.

I do donate and did on Tuesday, but not to the general athletic fund or anything that could be used for NIL.

Yup. I donated to student media, and my gift (and those of hundreds of others) was matched by a generous alum.

I donate annually to the DACA scholarship fund in honor of a DACA student I worked with and have remained friends with. That is a group with real need, and I know the aid is going to a great use.

For the love of God, why do you even follow Marquette basketball? All you do is bitch and moan that things aren't like they were 50 years ago.

Well there are more worthy charities to donate too which has nothing to do about how things were 50/60 years ago. I may be in the minority here but it is not a good look for the University and other schools doing the same, especially when college costs are through the roof, and has nothing to do about following and rooting for the team.

It's fine. Donate to whatever organization you want to. No one cares.

When I get the calls I set up a minimum recurring donation because I worked as a student caller and know you get commission for a credit card, recurring, new donation. So 6mo at $5 for a student to get $10 in beer money is fine by me.

no, it's not, but now schools are asking for donations specifically for NIL.

Anecdotal, I know, but a friend out west is providing a match for donations for a mid-major program specifically for NIL money to try and keep one player who will receive significant interest from higher-level programs. This school has a $750k rev share budget for Men's hoops. That's the new world of college sports now.

Let's face it, Nigel is going to have some serious dollars offered, so MU will need to step up and increase their NIL budget, especially if Shaka really does recruit some impact transfers. Those donations will be used to bolster MU's current NIL rev share fund to go to specific players, so yes, this is "new" in how the funds raised will be used.

You probably had an easier time than my wife did as a student caller in 1997 when she constantly heard from potential donors "not until they go back to Warriors."

I'm actually surprised they still call for donations. Many schools shut those programs down years ago. No one answers their phone!

In 2014 they were still saying that. Between that, the treatment of McAdams, or the treatment of Jodi O'Brien people came up with all sorts of ridiculous reasons.

Honestly why not just say you don't want to donate? I mean between that and your current gripes it sounds like you aren't going to donate either way and are more looking for a reason to pin it on. I have more respect for Hards saying 'the took my tuition money, I don't owe them anything' than people acting like they're sitting on a big pot of gold if only the university went back to warriors/brought back the med school/stopped hiring or firing or mistreating X professor/stopped NIL payments etc

I'm not gonna donate again until MU offers some RGV items as "thank you" for donating. I've got MU socks, an MU shirt for my wife, and a MU beach towel but NO RGV gear. I'm pissed!

When someone donates for NIL, are they able to specify exactly how those funds are used?  In other words, can someone say, "I'll donate "x" amount of dollars, but I want that spent to retain Nigel or add a portal player," or do they just donate to a general fund and Shaka/the Athletic Department spends it however they see fit?

For older people like me, you can make QCD's (Qualified Charitable Distributions) direct from retirement accounts. They count against your Required Minimum Distributions but are untaxed. I use that for multiple charities.

Legally you cannot direct any charitable support to a specific player, but...wink wink...I am sure it happens.
