Title: MU/Hall Game Thread
Post by: MuggsyB on January 31, 2026, 10:38:28 AM
LFG!!!  We can 100% beat these guys. It's time to use every tool in the shed and go full throttle on them.  This could be the game Chase and Ben wake up from their disturbing slumber.

Nice first half other than turnovers.    Need to get the ball inside in half two because no way we maintain the 3 percentage.  Unless we have divine intervention.    Go Marquette!  Why not just double the half time score and call it a game.

Chase Ross just allowed alley dunk..and another offensive rebound on Clark drive.  Awful effort.

Chase Ross was pretty bad today. He misses the box out. Gets burned trying to double. Forced a number of bad shots. Continues his poor position defense.

I think Stevens is a major keeper.  And will be solid with an expanded role.  I also believe DO and MP will play important roles next year.  But we need a quality big.

Chase beat again. Very poor game. His position D and awareness of opponent location has always been bad, but it's getting worse. He really cannot create his own shot on offense.

MU is playing better but they didn't play well today. Sloppy with the ball. Panic. Poor defense in the second half. Lots of bad decisions.

Owens was pretty invisible again today.

Stevens, James, and Parham are the reliable building blocks. Beyond that, just questions.

Saw very little improvement. Still lost a game we should have and could have won.

The situational awareness on the court down the stretch was nonexistent. The guys didn't seem to trust each other, they committed way too many turnovers when they did and when we needed to try a 3, Chase drives for the basket and is stuffed.

If there is a consolation in this, there won't be a winning streak that makes the powers that be give RGV a second chance,

Frustrating game by why are people ignoring that SH is 12th in the country in defensive efficiency and was playing for their tournament lives at home?

Their defense had a lot to do with some of the sloppiness.

I'm with you brother dgies.  The ball was moving well at various points in the 1H.  Down the stretch that was abandoned.  Nigel is most effective when he adds an assortment of dimes to his buckets and takes care of the rock.

Totally agree VBMG. Nigel was especially sloppy today which is to be expected on the road, but Seton Hall is by far the best defense in this league and had everything to play for. I'm encouraged that Royce had tough finishes (some butterfingers to boot), Nigel was still able to get to his spots, and Adrien was 3-3 from deep. Frustrating to lose in that fashion, especially since we just let SH run 40 seconds off the clock leaving us no room for error. Absolutely hate that coaching decision, extend the game as long as you can and force SH to make front ends.

But a bubble team at home was fortunate to hang on against a 6-man team comprised mainly of underclassmen. That's a far cry from where we were in December, but the next step is us closing out these road games with a win. I'm optimistic we get one soon.

Marquette came into the game 11th in 3 percentage and Seton Hall the 10th in 3% shooting. Feel we should have made Seton Hall shoot more 3s. Instead Seton Hall outscored Marquette 42-26 in the paint. But after watching a few of Shaka's practices that is how he coaches.

I get people are obsessed with stats, but I wasn't all that impressed with The Hall's defense.  Don't you have to take into account who they've played?  When MU moved the basketball, we essentially got quality looks at will.
