Title: The Nigel James Conundrum
Post by: panda on January 13, 2026, 08:07:48 PM
With every passing game, we see our team look more and more pathetic. However, the lone bright spot is our sweet prince Nigel James. Every game he has a wow play and is single-handedly almost bringing us to cover double digit spreads.

Now the issue is with the modern day game, teams who actually want to win will be offering him things such as money or the chance of winning more than 8 games in a season.

Would it be more beneficial for NJ to take a dive as we hide him from far more attractive suitors than our dumpster fire?

Felt like he had 10 turnovers tonight.

He's gonna get offers to leave. Honestly...we have far greater problems that trying to retain Nigel James Jr.

Like what if he just stays and we still suck? This staff looks dead, the team is following. No talent evaluators, no development.

Ugly times.

There is this thing called the portal. If he wants to go, he wants to go.

And MAYBE marquette could use it next year and save me from another year of whatever we call this.

Everyone will instantly stop caring about Sam, and NJ will instantly become the most hated player in marquette history if he goes to Wisconsin.

Do it.

I don't think so. He'll be forgotten like Ellensons dad. Sam's infamous because it cratered a great year, cratered a year we'd all waited for for the entirety of Wojo's tenure, and because he was good on good teams. Nigel leaving craters an already bleak looking 26/27 year

The best returning player going to the instate rival after one of the worst seasons in history? They'll hate him!

SJU if he leaves. Slick chatted him up. I think he stays put,  but back home would be my guess if he wants out. Nigel has to believe MU will get better. He is a competitor. Could go either way after this dumpster fire.

I don't rate Sam as the most hated, I think he caved to family pressure. Now Joey on the other hand...

The surest way to lose a player to the portal would be to try and hide him.  The surest way to have a losing culture is to not try your best to win.

Enough people knew how good he was before the year even started.  We need to sell him our vision and pony up what is necessary.

"This is your team. We need to lead this program from this rough spot. It's going to be glorious, and it's going to be you in a star role."

If Nigel digs that, which I think many would, then all good. If he likes marketing that can get dates/times/basic info correct, then we may be screwed.

If the Slickster wants him, then he'll get Mr. Vitamin Water to throw some major dollars at him. Hopefully, we'll pony up both financially and in terms of commitment to turning this crap show around immediately, and Nigel will be dedicated to being the foundation of the turnaround. We need to commit to playing with the big boys not just in the BE but in CBB.

Dude is great.  With a good supporting cast wouldn't need to over extend his skills and could provide what the game allows.
Shaka as salesman and $$s need to be there to keep him.

The BB program has been a money maker and great University promotional tool.  Why settle now for making it insignificant and loose all this upside?

There are people talking buddy.

Also no shock when he was concerned about his playing time and let the staff know he was considering his options given Nigel James talents that now everyone can see.

Which is completely different than what your big time golf buddy booster allegedly reported to you.

Anyways, if you think coaches from other programs are just going to forget Nigel James is on this planet if Shaka "hides" him by sitting him the rest of the year, and that James would be on board with just not playing for half the season so he won't be offered portal money, your golf buddies are even dumber than they seemed before today.

People are also asking the question if the Bucks should send Giannis to live with his family in Greece for the next year and a half. Then nobody would be interested in trading for him or signing him as a free agent and he could come back and sign the max extension with the Bucks, assuming they don't also forget who he is.

Whose only "insider information" he's provided has been that Sean Jones is in the portal, no less.
