Poll
Question:
What is the main reason we are so awful this year?
Option 1: Horrible talent evaluation by Shaka. He actually believed they had the pieces but was dead wrong on evaluation.
votes: 67
Option 2: Shaka is so fed up with state of CBB that he would rather lose with his guys vs play the transfer portal/NIL game.
votes: 3
Option 3: Bad coaching and development. Shaka has enough talent to compete. But hasn't put them in positions to win.
votes: 10
What does the board think it the main reason we are so bad this year? Will Shaka learn from this season and make changes or no?
You registered in 2010 and I am SO glad that you have now provided us with this wonderful opportunity to discuss a subject that no one on scoop has even considered. After many years of inactivity, your stored knowledge is certain to overwhelm us.
Rather than checking one of the boxes you so kindly provided, I am going to say that the main reason for the failed season is that we have lost too many games.

I think it's a little too early to count out 2026.
2025 was pretty much a disaster though.
Marquette made fewer baskets than other teams.
Some teams only made a couple more.
Other teams made a lot more.
If MU starts making more baskets they will win more games.

Lack of shooters who can not only shoot but score. Poor overall defense.
Combination of all 3
Sub par posters. Need to broom some out and try to get better through the fan portal. I know some schools have already contacted my agent.

Spencer Pratt is probably much healthier than us for avoiding Scoop for 16 years.
I voted for poor talent evaluation but is also a combination of ignoring the portal. Save his first season when he absolutely needed bodies to field a team, he has completely ignored any sort of transfer, save the NAIA kid who never played because of injuries.
Thinking he could go into the last two seasons and compete with bigs like Gold, Hamilton, Clark, Amadou etc. is a MASSIVE red flag moving forward.
The main reason the year failed was too many polls.

No Arby's, not legit
With Scoop being the Guardians of MU BB Success he saw a massive failure.
We drove him out of 16 years of Scoop retirement.

Good, this free open board is supposed to be a circle jerk for emotionally unhealthy individuals!

Damn! I cannot argue with that statement. Spot on. ;D

Right on. We lose simply because we shoot horribly. If we make a few more shots or a few more free throws, we win most of the games. Its not complicated. Shooting should be emphasized in practice. Not choking on layups.
Just received a 7 figure offer from another message board. Woohoo! 6 zeroes and a 1, baby. That's what I'm talking about. LFG.
Wrong side of the decimal, but still.

Big Bucks. We split 50/50. Deal?

Our average margin of defeat is 12 points, with losses by 23, 20, 20, 21 and 16. Only four of 11 losses have been by two possessions or less.
There's a lot more than a few shots or a few free throws keeping this team from winning most of its games.

You have a point, but an average of 14 missed layups per game could be worth up to as much as 28 more points per game if we make all our layups. That makes a difference in almost every game.

I guess? But this is just a different way of saying "If our players were better at basketball, we'd win more basketball games." Which is definitely true, but so what?
Every losing team can argue that they'd win if they made more shots.
Agree combination of all 3.
Have coached many teams and many games. I had a bad year like this in there. But I was a volunteer coach Not a coach making millions. Not a coach with a school and city counting on me.
