Let's have some fun folks.
The last two games was some MU BB worth watching.
Neither team has met preseason expectations. If I bet, I would bet on the home team. NJ gets a homecoming. Hopefully, the stomach big has exited. Opportunities abound.
I like the way MU has played the last couple games. Nigel will be a star. But we needed several more players to play at Nigel's level to compete this year and don't have it. I think it will be a fun game but St Johns has too much fire power, Also Ben being hurt does not help our chances.
Looking back, it's crazy how much fire power MU had on Shaka's first team. I think we will all look back and say the same of a limited number of players on this team in addition to Nigel. I like Parham's toughness of late. Love the way he took shoulder after shoulder in the chest guarding Carrol (sp?) of Xavier. And although sometimes frustrating he has a good feel for scoring the ball. Stevens catches my eye every time with his defense and just wish he would be more aggressive on offense. Phillips is still a baby giraffe but I like him.
Just don't have the Morsel's and Lewis' and Kueth's to supplement those guys to be a tournament team. Chase and Ben haven't played well enough consistently enough on offense to supplement the freshman and sophomores. Chase just needs to play within himself (straight line drives to the hoop and the occasional three) and continue to play good defense. Needs to be a leader on the team in a secondary if not tertiary scoring role going forward. Should never have the ball at the end of games unless he is wide open. Ben needs to continue to play good defense and hit a couple threes. A coupe wide open threes a game will get us more wins. If Both continue to be a liability on offense there will be very few wins, especially against teams like St John's.
Much more fun and competent team to watch lately. Looking forward to the game and continued growth of the next wave of players.
Nice post Shooter. Thanks!

SJ seems to finally be figuring it out as a team. Slick Rick has found something in Litotopolous shooting from the perimeter and, Hopkins has been hot, and we don't have anyone who can handle Zuby. In their last three halves, on the road, they've outscored their opponents by 31.
Massive issue tomorrow:
I have league tomorrow starting at 7pm. Not sure how/when to watch the game. Maybe the outcome of the MU game will be obvious by the time I start my intense competition.
Realistically, we should get blown out of the building. St. John's may be a 'disappointment' to some vs. their over-inflated preseason projections by many, but other than the recent L to Providence, can't say any of the losses look all that bad.
St John's isn't great, but their front court strength is perfect to take advantage of our weaknesses at the rim. I expect them to destroy us.
I thought polls without an Arby's option were not allowed. Kudos to Shaka and the team for making the last game competitive, but I think this is going to be another learning experience.
I hope Ben's ankle improves. I can see Josh and Caedin fouling out. Ejiofor is work. A throwback to Oakley and Mason. Yes, this year the young bigs will probably lose. I want to see them compete.

Agree, but please identify the scooper you are referring to as the big stomach. There are probably too many here for anything other than a wild guess. And why should he exit?
Love your optimism, even though I have to admit that I often do not share it. ;D
Stupid typos. Nice work. Stomach BUG. Harumph. Don't mistake 'opportunities abound' for optimism. I think it will be 90 something 60 something.

Yeah I'm a lot more encouraged by how we're playing, but this seems like arguably the worst matchup for us in the big east. I think this one we get run out of the gym and then we surprise some people here and win the following two.

Agree and technically all of 2026 and the last 3 games since we covered against UCONN.
Last 3 games we either Won or Covered.

It's banner time!!
Marquette has been playing better in 2026 but Saint Johns played better against Creighton last game which probably carries more weight that said I feel we will be about the spread but not sure no idea

They made 3's against Creighton but are very capable of going brick city. The question is can we rebound with them?
The Spread on Fox Sports is SJU -14.5
Over Under Total is 155.5
The Spread on ESPN is SJU -13.5
The Over Under Total is also 155.5
Will be epic if we win.

Is Zuby not going to play?
Feels ripe for a rough Nigel game :/
Ben Gold out tonight with an ankle.
A respectable loss will push us closer to the bubble.
Caedin Hamilton's time to shine
He was built with matchups against guys like Zuby in mind

If only he had been given a chance earlier this year!

OU 3 hook shots made?
I remember once being a pretty solid HS soccer player, with a wicked elite left foot and a completely useless right foot.
One summer, after teammates poked a ton of fun at my peg leg, I work relentlessly in practice to use the right to the point where I even received a few "wows!"
Season came around and I used the right 2x to complete fail and abandoned it for the remainder of the campaign, sticking it back into the dresser drawer.
Wonder if there is some of that going on with Caedin and the other MU youngsters that were tasked the envious goal of G in the RGV triangle

G & V up in flames. Awesome graphic. You have a bright future.

The Zaide situation doesn't warrant a flame on the R?

I thought about that, but one player leaving mid-year is fairly benign. If it becomes off-season cancerous I can update.
The Fox Sports line went from SJU -14.5 to SJU -15.5
The ESPN line went from SJU -13.5 to SJU -15.5
According to Caedin, he's the baddest mfer in the league. Guess that'll be put to the test tonight.

Bump. 9 players. 7 freshmen and sophomores on the road at MSG. Predictable and expected.
The three Amigos freshman year won the great Alaska Shootout tournament. Took out #2 UConn and made the NCAA tournament. They also had Steve Novak.
