Since this year may end in a disaster, who starts next year?
Center - Pearson, the other two potential
Returnees should transfer
PF. - Parham
SF. -So many kids, Phillips or Egbuono
Point. - Nigel
2Guard - Stevens or Walker
Can this team win?
Do you know who will be on the roster next season? Do you know if the light switch is going to flip on for anyone who has disappointed you so far? 21 games to go, at a minimum.
The "All Relationships" team
PG - Sean Jones
SG - Tre Norman
SF - Zaide Lowery
PF - Royce Parham
C - Caedin Hamilton

It could happen. Particularly if the portal works against MU.
Wild to think a senior lowery wouldn't be able to earn that 3 spot but who knows anymore. Otherwise I agree. I'm optimistic a year 2 James and Stevens could be a solid back court. Sheek should be an upgrade over Hamilton . Like to believe parham as an upperclassman will be serviceable. Yeah I think that roster is at least slightly better than what we got now.
PG - Nigel James
SG - Dwyane Wade
SF - Nolan Minnessale
PF - Brandon Benjamin

Best answer yet!
That would likely equate to a new coach and a ground up rebuild.

I long for the days when our main gripe was the lack of disgusting hot dogs at a free event.
PG: James
2G: Stevens
SF: Phillips
PF: Parham
C: Pearson
Sixth man: Egbuonu
Seventh man: Walker
Eighth man: Clark
Ninth man: Norman
Tenth man: Johnston
Eleventh man: Lowery
I am extremely reluctant to count on anything from incoming freshmen or redshirt freshmen given recent results. I certainly hope Pearson is a real player, but we all thought the same about Owens. In fact, no one has any idea how these guys are going to do.

A MUSCOOP dream. The possibility of endless chats.

This is my concern. I want to be optimistic, but the only real hit of Shaka's high school recruiting here has been Chase. Jop & Gold have been fine, but roleplayers as underclassmen and back end starters as upperclassmen isn't a hit, it's just meeting baseline expectations.
So far, Shaka is 1/13 on HS recruits really hitting. And that 1 is leaving in 3 months. Hard to gin up optimism.

I use numerous Singapore Slings and Negronis to gin up optimism. The only way to watch MU hoops this season!

Goose used to post that he loved the team with Kolek, Oso, Stevie, Kam, etc. but as excited as he was about those teams it would get even better when Shaka recruited "his guys" into "his system". I bought this line of thinking. This was going to be a "second golden era" in MUBB history. That's why this precipitous fall is so disturbing. Four years of recruiting "his guys" has led to some of the worst basketball I have seen from MU in my lifetime, objectively and subjectively. Which, as we all know, is the exact opposite of Goose's optimism.
Shaka is a great representative of MU. He will hopefully turn this around. MU needs to pour money into freshman studs going forward. Need top 50 players coming in if we continue with this model. A hybrid, Matt Painter, model would be great as well. The fear is another year of this and Shaka starts losing his cache with parents and recruits. This could snowball if they don't start winning next year.
Develop this year. Take our lumps. Hope like hell things go better next year with help from development, red shirt freshman, standard freshman and maybe (cross you fingers) a couple portal players if some of the current players leave on their own.
Go MU, beat Georgetown!!
Ball-knower Goose was certain that Gold would be NBA-bound after his MU career, and might even leave after his junior year for NBA riches.

I only bring him up because it's a sentiment that seemed to be more universal, legitimate and more of a surety. "Shaka took Wojo holdovers and recruits and several transfers on the fly and won a Big East championship. Think of the possibilities after he gets his own guys into the system".
Ben to the NBA seemed more of an individual opinion and less of a surety.

Jop was undoubtedly a hit. He was the second leading scorer and leading rebounder for a Tournament team last year, and the 4th leading scorer and rebounder for a Sweet 16 team as a junior. If he wasn't, then any kid who doesn't become an All Big East player is a "miss." He also recruited Oso while he was at Texas, as Oso had a final 3 of Texas, Stanford, and Marquette.
Still not good enough, at all.

That's about what I'd like to see. But I honestly wouldn't mind a swap of a transfer PG who splits minutes with James (assuming Jones goes elsewhere). I'm higher on Pearson than any other MU big man recruit (which is very easy to be), but I don't think he's going to be a big of an impact player until year 2. Another year of Hamiltoe at the 5 would be rough.
