Well fellow Scoopers. MU laces up the shoes Saturday against Purdue. Any Pre-Christmas magic for MU?
Hopeful we lose by less than 30. 🤞
I have a tourney starting at noon, so will miss it live. In the past, I would have not checked texts and tried to keep the outcome unknown until watching it after winning another pickleball medal. However, I'm so convinced it's not going to go well that i will check for updates in between matches.

Combination of some glimmers and 1st half blowout, but all the glimmers will be in the backcourt. We will get eaten alive by their front court.
Kam was the star last year with the triple double but Chase quietly dominated the game as well. Played a game high 37 minutes with 12 points, 5 boards, 4 steals and a block. Put a lot of pressure on Smith and Loyer. Might be tougher for him to do this year but I still think we will see glimmers from the back court. Totally dominated up front.
Simply overmatched in this one. This is a buy game for Purdue. Crazy how far and fast MU has fallen from a year ago. This game will be a stark reminder of that. Will be looking for glimmers of hope, keeping an eye on NJ, AS, RP and maybe MP and JC. Hopefully not a plus 40 point loss. Painter likely to classy for that.
This season is about development and then retaining the players who look like high major players after the season.
Wonder what the team practices with a week off between 30 pt wallops?
I hope they all did well on their finals, so as to not have eligibility issues.

Developing sound form while performing EGBs
If this is a dog by halftime, at least the Army/Navy game kickoffs right about then.
I thought we played close to our ceiling for a good part of the badger game. I don't expect much more out of any one player this season than we saw in that game and thought each guy made some positive contributions. If that carries over into this game, I think we have a good chance of keeping it within 20 at the half. Maybe show a little fight in the second half and cut it to 13 or so before they adjust and blow the lead back up to 25. That's how I envision the game going. Small positives would be the young guys continuing to gain confidence.

We're at the right point in the season to get a girl pitcher who throws fire. Let the training montage start.
Hoosiers theme for more points.

This made me laugh.

Truly?
This is an ass kicking like we have haven't seen in a week
I love Marquette basketball, but this year all I want is improvement and hope for next year. If MU makes the tournament that is a huge success...MU probably loses by 30+ tomorrow, but Ill still tune in!
MU will get destroyed.
Painter seems decent, so maybe the 3rd string plays and MU only loses by 25.
The game will be just one of numerous embarrassments this year.... Many many more to come.

No, this season is about drowning in our own tears

Cute that you have a crush on me.
We shall see though, tomorrow. I've been switching paddles and still have soreness from golfer's elbow, but this is one we can do well in and should. 22 teams, only 3 will medal. No participation anything for 19 of 22. RGV and Lost in the Fight will be on full display on the courts.
My prediction for the MU / Purdue game is that scoopers will complain and criticize a lot. Only way that doesn't happen is an 82-0 drubbing by the Warriors. #pray
Loyer looks like a cuck.

Welcome back!

Unfortunately that cuck will probably kill us tomorrow.
Loyer plays his best games in Mackey Arena. Currently shooting 50% from deep across 8 home games. And he just happens to be coming off an underperformance a couple days ago against Minnesota, to a Marquette team that's about #250 in 3PT defense.
If you're a sports bettor, it's not a bad prop bet opportunity.
Quote from: Johnny B on December 12, 2025, 08:12:38 PMBiggest dogs since?
It has to be one of the Marquette nova games during wojo's years. Otherwise maybe a Cincinnati game in the cusa days??
Did the team spend any time practicing offense? Shooting? Free throws? Out of bounds plays? Following through on rim shots? Following up shots for rebounds and put ins!
Would like to see Clark and Phillips each get a real run tomorrow. Purdue plays some younger bench guys who dont do much other than eat some minutes, good opportunity to matchup Phillips and Clark on them for a few minutes and see how they handle the environment.
I don't think Painter will let us lose by 30. He will have respect.

That is a good way to spin it. This season is about development. Why isn't it about victory? Some of us saw this coming a year ago and then we're criticized immensely for expressing those concerns. Now those critic shrinking violets are hiding in their basement.
Sad state for MU basketball, and the only fix is consistent winning. That is not in sight.
When the other teams get to shop at the farmers market and cherry pick their produce, versus Marquette that grows their own and cultivates and has a poor crop, no surprises.

I agree. He is a class act. Friendly with Shaka. He will give us a good beating, but will call off the dogs so we don't get destroyed.

mostly agree, and Painter seems like a genuine person. they'll want to cover and will easily do that. Maybe instead of walk-ons by halftime, they'll practice some wild new plays or something. Could be entertaining

Maybe we should send our Women's team instead.
Marquette will have their best performance of the season today. Zero pressure. We're overmatched but I expect us to compete at a very high level.

I sill have faith in the future, but this is so depressing. MU relying on the charity of others. :(

Up to -18.5.
Wonder if there's a way to find out when the last time MU was that big of a dog.

Hopefully he doesn't call off the dogs too early. Laid the spread figuring PU is not the kind of team that our squad is going to get healthy against. I can't remember MU being this big of a dog.
Muggs - Nice optimism. Won't happen...
MU will get destroyed. They $uck. Period.
Will marquette continue the strategy of "eventually they'll fall?"
We win. I dont know why. But we've been on the wrong side of a lot of close ones and this is the breakthrough point.

I'm not saying we're good or will win. I just have a gut feeling we won't be obliterated.

What's this about guts getting obliterated Muggs? 😏
I guess it will be a MU victory if Purdue needs to keep their walk-ons on the bench.
Looks like same starters at the UW game.

It's an ancient Chinese proverb that tends to pop up when a girl has the hottz for a guy. Just DM me already, guuurl.
If you can't shoot, you don't win. We are the worse shooting Marquette team ever. Our seniors - Gold and Ross - are not good leaders.
