Are we gonna turn it around or will this be the worst season since Wojo? Buzz? Deane? Naismith?
Originally I predicted "first four out" of the tournament type team. Now I don't think they're even a bubble NIT team. I see 10-13 wins total.

Same. I see 12 wins.
It was astonishing how quickly Shaka turned the Wojo era to a top 10 team, and now how quickly the program has likely crashed to the bottom of the Big East.
Wow
15 votes in and I'm the only one with 15-20 vote.
In all fairness I was on the fence between 10-15 and 15-20.
10-10 in conference would be 15 for the season so I'll stick with that.
Not sure I'd call that 'got it together', since the conference is down a bit, but some of the typically/more recently lower echelon BE teams like SH and Butler seem improved so 10 wins might not be that easy with what this Marquette squad has shown.
Either way, I'm starting to pull for Shaka to right the ship a bit here and I hope he can do it, he's earned it.
Gotta give him credit for riding two freshmen so much.
I know I know, he has no choice, but he does have a choice and he sees that those two deserve the minutes and he gives them the minutes.
Still don't get the Caedin thing but he had 10 boards so whatever, Shaka values his defensive grit.
It'll probably be painful to watch, but let's see what happens.
A win on Saturday would go a long way
I agree ... 12 or 13 wins, and that might be optimistic.
This is worse than any Deane or Wojo team. Smells like a - God forbid -
Dukiet team.
I went with less than 10. Don't see us winning away from Fiserv. Who do we beat at home? Xavier, DePaul, maybe Creighton, anyone else? Not sure.

I also went less than 10 wins.
Last time MU won less than 10 games is 1946-47 with a record of 9-14.
Freaking Yikes.

Nah.
Chase and Nigel alone, along with a few games of Ben/Parham hitting some timely 3s will get them above 10 wins imo.
Gonna need several games shooting 35% or better from 3 though, since facing improved defenses will lead to more 3P attempts, and we haven't seen that from this group

I gotta get me some of what Dr V is drinking/smoking/snorting. I'm searching for ways to watch games with optimism.
6 to 7 wins 🤣

Yeah, if we get to 10 conference wins I'll feel very encouraged from where we are now.

NIT bid would seem like a major accomplishment at this point.
Maybe MU can get an NIT bid at like
11 - 20 to demonstrate to the all the other schools the " right " way to go about D1 hoops in this new era?

The Crown Tournament
This season is shaping up to be the worst season since 1987-88 which was Dukiets last season. That team finished with 10 wins. When comparing the rosters, that team had Tony Smith, Mark Anglavar, and Trevor Powell. Advantage '87-88. Genuinely awful MU teams don't happen very often, and when it happens, it results in changes. Likely not the case here, but we're making history in '25-26!

Warrior- yep ...
This team is going to make some of the
" down " years ( Deane's last year,
Buzz last year ) look like the good old days >:(

Agreed with this: I chose 10-15 wins. I also like your post above that said you gave Shaka credit for starting James and Stevens. I think Parham is next. I also like what Zaide did before getting hurt in the Wisconsin game. Needs to play like that on offense more often.
Don't know why but that Wisconsin game wasn't half as depressing as I thought it would be. Granted I watched it 2 days later and knew the outcome. Some of the wide open threes were shot with confidence and just missed. Parham scoring at the rim was great. Stevens looks under control and plays with purpose. James is going to be really good but had some defensive lapses. Chase had an off game but he will be fine. Ben was fine. And I thought Jones provided good rest for James. I would give Clark a few more minutes (why the heck not). He rebounds and blocks shots. Also he can dunk if he gets it down low.
10-15 wins seems entirely possible if these guys keep their heads up. If Shaka loses the team for some reason, everything I said above has zero meaning. I don't think he will.
Sticking with my original prediction of 0-31.

That's fair. Equally as logical as mine or other posts here.
Shooter says the UW game wasn't as depressing as he expected after watching it. We were down by 27 with a few minutes left to an unranked band of rodents! Whatever he was drinking when he watched the game I'd like some of it.

Ha! Don't take my optimism away! 5 more wins is possible.

Deane cratered at 14-15.

Double digit victories!
Who doesn't like Arby's! That is the winning answer....
Quote from: NCMUFan on December 09, 2025, 09:29:58 AMDouble digit victories!
Are we including "secret scrimmages"?
This is a twenty-loss team.
Arbys' has the meats. We don't.
Quote from: BM1090 on December 09, 2025, 01:18:02 PMWant to bet on it?
21 games to go with 5 losses to date.
The BET will be one loss automatically unless we win the championship so that makes it 6 losses to date.
So 20 - 6 = 14 more losses.
Or need 8 more victories out of 21 games for a total 19 losses.
We have 10 home games left.
Will we win 8 more?
Might be a decent bet, but I could never bet against MU and root against my team and I don't feel confident they will get 8 more wins.
Killing it in Shot Quality Wins
10ish plus or minus 1.....
I have to roll with DoctorV. I think tis team is getting better bit by bit. I think if Jones is healthy the rest of the season they have enought in place, that if somebody, anybody, gets 5points or 4stops or 4rebounds per game more going forward I thhink there is a chance to be decent by the end of the season. The board is sort of tough on Parham but I think he's coming around. I like Stevens getting more minutes and I can see Philips getting some time. This team as it is has some pieces but notput together coreectly yet. Gold holds back my optimism. I have given up on him ever being more than he is. The team needs some attitude.

Trust your instincts. They are almost always right. A true fan is supposed to be optimistic, that is why here is always next year
