Turns out recruiting zero star big men doesn't work

The entire season can be summed up in Ben Gold driving the lane in the second half and practically shattering the backboard with a runner off the glass.

Gold is ridiculous and the poster child that RGV is a failure.  Can't make a shot no matter how open he's left, drops easy passes out of bounds, the horrendous shot you reference, etc. In other words, essentially no growth in 4 years, and definitely nothing offensively.  Nice.

What does Hamilton do well?  He got at least 3 of his shots blocked.  Doesn't seem to be able to rebound or box out.  When he gets the ball; seems to be lost. Belongs on end of bench.  What is up with Owens?

Hamilton leads the team in EGBs. Owens just looks happy to be here.

I'm sure he's a " great kid " ...

But, during the game ( as he did not play .. with good reason) I saw Owens and thought that he looks like the kid on the JV HS team that is literally happy to be there , but prays every time the coach looks down the bench that his number is NOT called.   :-\

There is a reason Gold, Caedin and Clark were not recruited by anyone, Shaka is not a miracle worker, if there not very good in high school, how do you think there going to be in college? Right now nothing

I have hammered on this point all year. 6'9" non-shooters who play below the rim have little value.

Gold as a senior simply cannot continue to go 1-7 with 3 total points. Derek Wilson level ineptitude.

Totally unacceptable/inexcusable.

All that remains is for Shaka to run the court shouting "Blue,Blue!" and the image will be complete

Gold has improved on defense and does many little things right.  But when he takes plays off or can't get rebounds he has to get bolted to the bench because he contributes nothing offensively.

The ineptitude of Derek Wilson was that he refused to shoot at all, even when he had layups.  Tre is more like Derek Wilson although he at least will look to shoot 5 feet and in.

Gold needs to finish better and his 3-point shooting is just not good.  I think this offensive system never really fit Gold and his development has been pedestrian.

Gold is a fighter and I appreciate him. The offensive upside we hoped for (or in Dodds' case, claimed was going to huge in year 1) hasn't arrived, but a lot has been ax'd of him on d/reb and he's been solid.

All I would ask from Ben is 10-12 points a game get 5 or 6 rebounds is not asking much from a four year starter, maybe get back on D might help!
