Title: Revenue sharing
Post by: Aircraftcarrier on November 13, 2025, 01:40:39 PM
For those in the know, will Marquette get the same amount of money as football schools from the NCAA revenue sharing?

We can spend the same 21m on athletes as the football schools.

But that doesnt mean we have the money to do so, since we dont have football revenue either.   We will spend more on basketball than most football schools though, since football schools are all delusional and spend it all on football.

We don't "get" any money. We can just pay out up to the same cap. I think most schools won't hit the cap, so maybe no matta

Thanks for the clarification. What would you guess Marquette's revenue per year is?

In FY '24 they received about $6.5 million from the BE. (https://painttouches.com/2025/06/04/analyzing-big-east-fiscal-year-2024-financials-uconn-marquette/) That includes media $$$ and NCAA credits weighted by performance. This will likely go up to around $9-10 million or so with the new media deal. Maybe more.

But that obviously doesn't include ticket, sponsorship, gift revenue, etc.

Does this "revenue" goes towards the athletic departments budget that pays salaries, arena rental fees, marketing etc.? Do Scholarships come out of a different budget. Just wondering how this money is spent.
