Without those residuals factored in, we're #125 at Torvik. From what I found today, our lowest ever kenpom ranking was #125. Guessing we're going to make a run at that this year.

Scoop needs a sensitive content feature.
We are going to struggle to find teams that want to play us next year. They'll know we are going to be bad like this year. There's no benefit to them. Dan Hurley is already talking about how he scheduled extra tough because he knew how bad the Big East would be this year. Teams want tough non-cons. We won't give them that and all our current home and homes are done (I believe).

Regardless of others team desires, I will fully support Ewing's non-con strategy for MU. My fandom will trick me into thinking we are better than we are for 6 weeks.

The bolded confuses me. It would take something on order of a 16-win conference season for MU to secure an at-large bid, and this seems to suggest that outcome is much more likely than the team getting on a four-game hot streak and winning the BE tournament.

If you sort just since 2/1, Marquette is playing like the 23rd best team in the country (https://barttorvik.com/?year=2026&sort=&hteam=&t2value=&conlimit=All&state=All&begin=20260201&end=20260501&top=0&revquad=0&quad=5&venue=All&type=All&mingames=0#).
We're not dancing, and probably aren't NIT-ing, but right now we are playing like a team that could be. And with how we started in November and December, I'll take that.

It's almost as if the rotations were criminally insane earlier this year and sabotage the season early.

Still 44th. They're playing like a good team right now. That's undeniable, even if the end of game results have been disappointing.
We are all happy they are playing better now. Sadly though at the tail end of the season.
One can hope carries over to next year.

Yeah, I mean we have improved the second half of the season no doubt, but we have merely gone from "completely incompetant" to "still pretty bad." Sure there are some bright spots and things to build around, but I don't people realize that this is still a poor team.
Starts with the poor D. This team should never double team near the half court. Puts the center in a bad position, dunks happen, or bad rotation leaving a shooter wide open. This is all on the coaching. There zone D is just as bad.

I hate to be the negative guy but bad teams have guys who put up monster numbers all the time. To assume we're only two players away, mainly because we're Marquette and we're always competitive is naive.
This team needs a lot of help to get back to our baseline expectation level which is an ncaa tournament team.

Marquette's Kenpom Rank Moved into double digits at #99. Hang a Banner for sure.
Marquette's Kenpom Rating improved to #92 staying ahead of DePaul and moving ahead of Xavier.
I mean, if somehow the BET bracket miracously broke where we only had to play 1 of Nova, SJU and UCONN, we could have one further miracle and 3 emminately winnable games...

But I'm not despondent about any game from 4 to 11.
Throw in Villanova as well. Although MU barely lost twice, it is a very winnable game:beatable team. The only two teams MU should not be able to beat are St John's and UConn. They are now playing better than anyone else in the conference and should not consider themselves underdogs playing the bottom 8.

That's cute, but most intelligent basketball fans know if you look at MU's advanced stats for the 1st 4 minutes of second halves that MU is a bubble team.

Played like a tourney team in a 2-15 upset today. That's what the metrics tell me.
After a horrific start to the year, Marquette now has a TOP 50 defense in KenPom and T-rank.
