Not trying to steal Muggsy's new topic title 8-) , but anyone here had sinus surgery recently for snoring or otherwise?
I snored periodically in my 30s, but nothing too bad. But the last year or so, its gotten fairly bad. Decent amount of sleeping in the guest room as a result cause it aggravates the hell out of my light sleeping wife (especially light sleeping once our son was born a few years ago). Breath rite strips helped for a bit, but not much after awhile.
Without boasting, the standard "lose weight" solution doesn't apply as I'm as fit as Ive been since my mid 20s. So went to an ENT, discovered a deviated septum but also did a sleep test. Sleep test showed no sleep apnea at all, thankfully. Did a CT scan last week, talked through the results with the doc today. Besides the septum, have some thickening in my sinuses that should said she would recommend going in and clearing out, while also fixing the septum. Funny enough, my good friend in Singapore is having the same surgery done on Thursday for similar issues, but he's also having his tonsils and adenoids out (which I had done when I was a young kid).
Anyone have something similar done? The recovering doesn't sound super fun, but not unbearable. Main motivation, beyond the snoring, is I think my sleep quality is absolutely being affected. Too many nights of getting 7-8 hours sleep, sober, and waking up and feeling sluggish or tired, not fresh and rested.
A friend did something similar years ago. Said it was painful as hell, but the results were awesome. He said he'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I don't snore, but I do sleepwalk and move around a lot. I probably wouldn't get the surgery.
My wife did two weeks ago for similar issues as you (deviated septum, poor sleep, no sleep apnea, fit). Recovery wasn't bad at all, surgery Thursday, gauze out on Tuesday, back working out Wednesday, nose piercing back in on Saturday.
Ewww, gross

Awesome, glad to hear it. Has she noticed a difference in the first week or so after the main recovery?

she is sleeping better.
@JWags85 I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about ten years ago. In my case it was severe, the sleep test revealed i was waking up about every 50 seconds due to an apnea. I had some pretty obvious causes. I had broken my nose four times which had caused a significantly deviated septum. A bout with mono had also caused my tonsils to swell and they never returned to normal size.
First doctor recommended a cpap machine. It was terrible. I went to a second doctor and he thought a total cure was possible with surgery. My septum had to be repaired and tonsils removed at minimum. He reccomended also removing my adnoids, turbinates, and uvula. Basically, since I'm cutting anyway, might as well cut everything.
The recovery was hell. Three days of misery. Another week of constant discomfort. Another week of minor discomfort. Spent a lot of days with nothing to do but lie around the house. However, my recollection is that the tonsils were the worst part of that so if youre already tonsil free it's probably a much easier recovery.
Results were amazing. I came out apnea free. Sleeping better than i ever had in my life. I could smell better. I had less headcolds and sinus infections. Total game changer.
It sounds like my symptoms were a little more severe than yours, so you might not have the same magnitude of benefit, but I would still recommend.
