Another year brings a start of a new tv contract for the league. The moderator will pin this thread like in years past. Thank you everyone who enjoys it and finds it helpful. This will look different in how we consume our Big East hoops.
Here is a breakdown....
-FOX/FS1 features more than 60 BIG EAST regular season games. 2 QF, Semi-final and Championship.
-NBC Sports and Peacock will present over 40 regular season games. Peacock will be the home for five early-round and quarterfinal matchups from the BIG EAST Tournament.
-TNT Sports will feature nearly 60 regular season games - including 30 in BIG EAST play. TNT will serve as its primary network, along with truTV.
-ESPN Plus will have 40 non-conference games set to stream live on ESPN+.
Daily schedule and boardcast crew will be posted each day of games.

Has anyone with YouTubeTV figured out a way to watch ESPN without subscribing to yet another streaming service? I don't think there's a way, but I'd be glad to be wrong.

Sure. But multiple posters have brought up Creighton as the example that Shaka should be modeling his program after and/or wondering why Creighton can figure this era out while Marquette can't.

Maybe if I have a couple hours to go through all the threads I'll find them for you, but you're honestly saying that you didn't read posts lamenting how Creighton can land big time transfers when Dix and Freeman committed there this summer when Marquette can't, questioning how Creighton is able to compete with Marquette in terms of NIL money, or saying that UCONN, SJU, and Creighton have separated themselves from the rest of the Big East and there's no reason we can't at least be Creighton? Maybe if you were a relatively infrequent poster here who just stops by after games or once in a while, but I can't imagine you missed all of that.

You seem to have taken it very personally. In the case of UConn & SJU, it appears true. Creighton may or may not be significantly better than MU this year.

Oh, I've seen plenty of posts suggesting that MU should be able to compete financially with Creighton. I've probably said that. And I think that's true .... MU can compete in the transfer market with the majority of programs on its level, and chooses not to.
But you wrote that multiple posters want Shaka to
model his program after Creighton, and I'm not sure that's true. I think almost nobody here wants see significant roster turnover every year. Some of us just want to see Shaka take advantage of all available avenues to improve the team, and it's clear he refuses to do that. He's getting lost in the fight ... with one arm tied behind his back.
The usual retort here is something along the lines of "he never said he won't ever take transfers." And while that may be true, actions speak louder than words. He had the makings of team that could have made a deep tourney run last year with a little more depth at the point and in the post, but he chose not to add that depth and wore his team into the ground. He went into this season with an obviously flawed team (my kingdom for a shooter!), but chose not to address those flaws. Maybe this year's struggles force him to change, but it's pretty clear he's shut the door on the portal as a tool.

The rest of the italicized remark was
and/or wondering why Creighton can figure this era out while Marquette cannot.I don't disagree with most of what you are saying. Shaka went all in on recruit, retain, develop. It worked for the first four seasons (and yes, 2 of his crown jewels were transfers he brought in in year one). He thought it would work for year five. He misread his roster. I trust that the guy who has been a very good college basketball coach for a long time will continue to be one. Will that be by bringing in transfers? Maybe, maybe not. Will it be by upping the talent of high school kids he recruits? Maybe, maybe not. But I believe that Shaka will figure this thing out. Probably not as quickly as Scoopers want, but I trust he will.
Looking at the last two posts, I'd say lots of Scoopers (maybe even most?) agree with what both Pak and wades are saying. I know I do.

Strange that this ended up in the scheduling thread, but...here we are.
There's a lot of good points in both posts. Shaka has chosen his path and, no matter how loud and frequently scoopers scream that he HAS go to the portal, he has not taken the advice from scoop as onepost stated that maybe he should. As if he could do so in the middle of the season, right? ::) He
may ,
at the end of this season, go to the portal but I really, really hope it is not because he is relying upon scoop to guide him. If so, we are
SO screwed!
A few points:
1) Instead of COLE this year, we have COPS-the Cult of Portal Strategists-who are totally
obsessed with the portal and Shaka's decision to not use it.
2) In the pre portal days, coaches like Boeheim, Bennet, and others had their own versions of RGV and Bennett won a natty in 2019, so it
can work. There may have been transfers, but if so, they came the "old way"-sit on the bench and lose a year of eligibility, so
please...it was
not a portal hybrid.
3) While Shaka's system is not inherently flawed, his current players have not shown anywhere near the promise we/he hoped for, and he was the one who chose them.
I'm really not sure what the COPS hope to accomplish, beating the subject of the portal like a dead horse, but of course they have every right to do so. ::) I cannot help but wonder if some are at least subconsciously enjoying the team's struggles because it validates them.
It is probably only a matter of time before a guy in Austin who bought up the remaining inventory of "Fire Shaka" T shirts for 50 cents a pop ships 3-4 pallets to Milwaukee where easily impressionable students will snap them up and wear them to the games.
