Shaka continues to stay to true to the motto...get old, stay old.
Steele: Ian Miletic to red-shirt (https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/marquette/2025/10/23/marquette-golden-eagles-basketball-coach-shaka-smart-plans-to-redshirt-freshman-ian-miletic/86817413007/)
I thought this would be Phillips given his age, but seems like his shooting, length, and overall athleticism has the staff thinking he's the more ready of the two to contribute immediately. I like Miletic as a long-term prospect and didn't see many minutes for him this year, so this is probably a good move for 2-3 years down the road.
With the expanded roster, great to have a couple of future significant contributors (potential studs) willing to stay on the bench this year. Will benefit the team, but also themselves.
Where's the famous Albany alums thread??

Eff that, our first opponent needs to be up on the header. Mods slacking. Game is 10 days out!
He's gonna be a great influence from the bench. The two RMHS games I attended he was a phenomenal communicator, and almost like a body language monitor out there. When a teammate got down, he was right over and in their face to pick up the vibe. He played almost the entire game each time, but when he was resting on the bench, he was the same vocal and positive influence.

I had forgotten Nash Walker existed.
With the redshirts, suddenly that freshman class looks a lot different.
Thank you for reposting the scholarship table. It is a good time to be an MU fan.
Out of the 12 players eligible to play this season, who do you consider as the 11th and 12th man?

Michael and Adrien is my best guess

Phillips and Clark. From everything Shaka has said I'd be very surprised if Stevens isn't in the regular rotation.

My thoughts as well. Shaka has mentioned Stevens positively enough to make me believe he's no worse than 10th on the roster. And if he's behind Norman to start the year, I expect Adrien to overtake Tre at some point.
Adrien is a better shooter and more athletic, with a college ready body. He's also older for a freshman, already 19.5 years old (turns 20 in April). This isn't your typical freshman that needs a year to mature, he's ready now.
Plus, I'm very cautious about expecting much from Clark. Hamilton struggled as a redshirt freshman and I expect Clark to do the same.
I envision a situational 3rd center type that receives spot minutes. If Josh proves himself in game action, the I will recalibrate my expectations. Until then, he's outside the main rotation in my view.

Agreed. By the time Big East play starts I expect the bench to be Parham/Caedin, Owens, Nigel, Stevens. That makes it a nice 9 man rotation. Then Tre, Clark and Phillips situationally if a 10th is needed.

Don't disagree though Tre, as a junior entrenched in the system, will get every opportunity to be in the base rotation. All up to him.
