Hate the Irish, but that kid is a warrior.
-
I hate saying this, but he might be the Big East Player of the Year
-
40 points now..
-
40 in a loss? Big deal. Talk to me when you can get more than that and win, specifically against #2 in the country. ;D

Balanced Attack by the Irish Costs Game
Shrek only musters 47% of their points tonight

That's a given...he won it a few weeks ago according to many experts

Along these lines, did anybody see that kid McKiver from Houston put in 52 last night? That was impressive. Former Providence Friar.
Brey really got one in Harangody. Not sure anyone expected him to be at this level. If he gets POY, that should leave the door open for Hayward to earn Most Improved.

Assuming just one award, but I'd say Harangody most outstanding player at this point. Most valuable player? To be determined yet based upon the last 9 days of league play, but I'd say Hibbert as a slight favorite over Harangody.

How would a guy averaging 13 and 6 have a leg up on Harandogy in either 'category'? Lazar gives you those same numbers every night! In conference play, Gody leads the Big East in scoring and rebounding. In all games played he nearly does the same. He's dominating, playing for a contender.
This one won't even be close. Frankly, Hibbert had a better junior season than he's delivering as a senior.

Padgett had a better night 26 points, on 14 less shots than Shrek took.

I don't like Harongody for the reasons so many others have stated on previous threads. But it was hard not to be impressed by his game yesterday and I'm not just talking about the 40 points. He was hustling all over the court even when ND was down 15+ in the 2nd half. At one point, he deflected a pass (although his defense was not very good otherwise) and outran a smaller guard (Jerry Smith?) down the court, grabbing it as it was going out of bounds and threw it off Smith to retain possession. It really was a great performance and methinks he won the POY award a few weeks ago and has done nothing to lose it.
I don't like him, but I do respect his game. He's good.

Padgett is the reason L'Ville is a top 5 team in the country. I'd be shocked if they're not in the Final Four. They're the only team in the BE and one of only a handful in the country that I think MU just cannot hang with, even on a good night.
-
Any chance that Harongody might jump to the NBA if he is the BE player of the year and ND wins a few games in the NCAA? James experience proves that you need to strike while the iron is hot. I also don't think Hibert has improved his marketability much by staying in, just gave up one more year of millions. I'd love to see both of these guys gone.
-
I don't think Harongody is leaving this year. It will be a strong draft class with so many freshman expected to leave and I think Harongody is only listed at 6'7''. If that's the case, I think he's a very good college player but not a great NBA prospect.
-
Gody will be a four year player. His ceiling in the NBA is very low.
-
if his ceiling in the NBA is very low than all the more reason to strike while the iron is hot. Many a player that defered going pro after a great season has had his stock slip or had his weaknesses exposed how ever you want to look at it.

Good point, Mr. Hayward. Its a shame how much truth there is to that.

I have heard that Harangody pretty much had to beg to play for Notre Dame, wasnt a high recruit out of high school.

I'm a big believer NY in giving an MVP to the best/most important player on the best team. A combination team award/individual award. Not a big fan of individual awards in team sports to begin with.
