For those in the Milwaukee area, we wanted to make sure as many people as possible know about our event we're having at Major Goolsby's on Saturday July 12. We'll be hosting the four incoming freshmen for a meet and greet, starting at 7pm. There hasn't been an event like this before, and we're really hoping to get a great turnout for this to welcome the new guys! Apologies if this post is self-serving, but obviously this board is a great way to get the word out.
Hope to see a lot of you at Goolsby's!
Thank you for posting. I hope it turns out well.
They are not 21. They should not be in bars...... ;D

Back when Don Kojis was playing, you only had to be 18 to get into bars and Al always said you should be a bartender at some point in your life

I am headed up to Oshkosh for EAA. Staying in Fon Du Lac. My 19 yo son is thrilled with that rule. Looking forward to having a beverage at the Dieners' establishment.
BTW, seriously, Goolsby's has been doing an excellent job with Marquette basketball promotion.
I had a waitress at the Swingin Door Exchange tell me and my kids (then 17 and 18) that the 17yo could drink with parental consent, but the 18yo couldn't because they weren't a minor anymore.
Sorry Uncle Rico but you're wrong on the drinking age. It was changed to age 18 when I was at Marquette in 1972. Kori's was well into his NBA career by that time.

Feelings don't care about your facts
I was the year behind Don. 21 Rico!

Cmon man. When Pitino was at Kentucky, they were getting hookers...er...escorts for the recruits. Everybody thought that was great.

I think Goolsbys is classified as a restaurant. They have a full food menu (https://www.majorgoolsbys.com/menu) including options for those under 12, so the whole discussion of whether the freshmen are of legal drinking age is moot.
The more interesting question I don't see raised yet is whether this is an NRI deal for the freshmen. Seems like it should be and I'm assuming there's some sort of appearance fee involved.

That was at Louisville. Same state, so that's as close as we can hope from you william.

College basketball doesn't have non roster invite deals like the MLB does.

If a restaurant is promoting the event the athletes are getting paid in some way shape or form.
It's funny that Equalizer would even ask the question. It's pretty obvious.

Sorry, Louisville where Pitino did a double header. Hookets for recruits and screwing one of his assets wife on a Porcinis table. Warm enough for you Sherlock.

The Beetlejuice of Scoop.
Heard Nigel James played awesome at practice yesterday and should see minutes during the season.
Heard Sean Jones stands out, Clark not ready, Ross doing well and Ben needs somebody to kick him in his ass
Instagram showed them all sparring in the boxing gym.

Why? Not hustling? Simply not playing well?

Not physical enough, still soft
That would be a regression. Certainly would not have characterized him has soft previously. Overly deferential, perhaps.
I disagree with the idea that Ben is soft. Plays through injuries, good post defender.
Lack of offensive post game doesn't mean he's soft.

Yes, he is not soft. But he could be a lot more aggressive on offense. Too willing to settle though he may have been deferring to his older teammates.
He would be fine if the other centers can play so he can move out to a wing
He played through shin splints and a broken finger.
He did a nice job defending the bigs we played last season.
He is more than capable of holding his own......having other bigs that can also play will definitely be needed though now that Jop is gone and his minutes will need to be filled by Royce/Ben.

Agreed. Effort and grit there. Needs an edge. Plays "nice" too often.

Did you watch the last game of the year and trying to guard Zuby, you watching the same games I am?
Quote from: BCHoopster on July 09, 2025, 01:20:26 PMDid you watch the last game of the year and trying to guard Zuby, you watching the same games I am?
Yes. He had trouble guarding the best center in the conference. As did everyone else.
But that doesn't negate what Mark is saying.
Yes...I also watched him against Kalkbrenner and many others
Quote from: BCHoopster on July 09, 2025, 01:20:26 PMDid you watch the last game of the year and trying to guard Zuby, you watching the same games I am?
I saw guards unable to keep Richmond and Luis Jr. out of the lane. When Ben made the correct help rotation, Ejiofor getting the pass and punishing everyone around him. Ejiofor played well.
Did you see Ben shut down Crowl? How about Kalkbrenner in Milwaukee? How about Sorber, the first rounder?
I saw Stevie Mitchell struggle to defend certain players at various times.........it happens.

Just never been an alpha. Ben may just be a role player as his ceiling. Sean may be an alpha. Parham looks like one. Will be interesting to see who takes the alpha roles with their combination of talent plus leadership.
There are no obvious Tyler's, Kams, Oso's or Stevie's on this team going into next year. Will be fun to see who emerges.
That's the question to the person who has seen them practice a few times, no one jumping out other then Jones. The 4 freshman are good prospects but will take some maturity, normal for frosh
Bump.
Go meet them before Shaka recruits over them from the portal.

Depends on how much they grow. They'll probably get a lot taller
How long before Stevie is brought on staff?
