A follow up question to a previous "What bar have you drank the most at?"
I was sitting at a local restaurant when another patron mused aloud to the bar tender that he thought the place started out somewhere else. The bartender said, no as far as she knew it had always been there. At this point, I had to chime in and say, yes, it had actually been across the intra-coastal in Palm Beach and moved almost overnight. And I suddenly realized that happened before the bartender was even born. And since I had drank at the original, it made me realize I had been drinking there for longer than she had been alive. I suddenly felt very old.
I started going to E.R. Bradley's in 1985 and frequented it throughout the years, including last week, so 40 years?
So that brings up the question of where have you drank the longest on the regular? And yes, regular can be subject to interpretation. I spent 3.5 years in Hawaii and only got back to Florida once in that time. But almost every time I was home, I would stop in.
Are there places I have drank at longer? Yeah, but not frequented.
When I first got to Marquette, our GDL took us to the Safe House (in 1980) and I was there with my daughter earlier this year. So if you just count start and last time, that likely would be the longest, but I have probably been to the Safe House maybe a couple dozen times, so really wouldn't count that.
Or maybe two questions:
1. What bar have you frequented the longest and how long?
2. What bar bar you have gone to with the longest period of time between your first drink there and your last and how long?
1. ER Bradley's - West Palm Beach. 40 years
2. Safe House - Milwaukee, 45 years.
Laschet's in Chicago. Started drinking there in 1976. Have gone there for drinks or dinner at least once a year since, usually more often. It's a great old German bar that expanded to a restaurant a couple of decades ago. Opened by a WW2 German submariner. It took me awhile to discern that the warship models he had on display were all from the Kriegsmarine.

This place looks freaking badass! What's that tap in tbe middle with the crown?
I've moved so much that I don't have a place like that. The bar I frequented the most of any in my life, (during my grad school years) is now a dispensary.

My favorite place to visit in Munich!

Looks cool but too many German beers.

No kidding. Last I checked, we won WWII
In my early 20's we would pass around the boot at Laschet's. I guess my answer to this question could also be Lachet's, Schullen's across the street, or Toons at Byron and Sheffield.

Too many Munich beers.
I never gave my own answer in this thread.
Favorite places go back to the early 90's post-Marquette.
Christopher Martin's, New Haven, CT - It's next door to Modern Apizza, one of the famous New Haven pizzerias. I had a half dozen friends from high school grow up in the neighborhood so it became the "Notre Dame HS bar". I still make an appearance at least once year because they hold a Christmas charity 5K for toy donations. It becomes a street party with the open bar post-race.

The Anchor, New Haven, CT - This place used to be grungy. Yale U. got a hold of the lease and it closed and reopened refined. Not as cool as before but when my brother is home from Minnesota it's visited.

The Hops Company, Derby, CT - An old rental hall reopened in 2017 as a beer garden. It was my go to place often especially since I could walk to from my house. They closed Jan 1 of this year, remodeled and reopened as a rental hall again and left a lot people upset (except for maybe the neighbors.) The family built a rental tent behind the garden, that did great business. So they decided to reopen the garden as rental hall so they operate two rental areas and apparently running a beer garden and rental hall at the same time was difficult and time consuming.
Archie Moore's (used to be Ye Olde Fibbers) in Milford, CT - The deck was great for partying in the summertime. I do still visit occasionally for Pub food and chicken wings.
Briny Pub in pompano Beach. Been a patron for over 30 years. Food, music, on ocean, great time.
Bar I've frequented the longest - Ray & Dots in Greendale. When I graduated high school 14oz Pabsts were 20 cents. After my junior year at MU (1976) they raised the price to 25 cents. So we only got 8 beers for our $2 instead on 10!

This place is a treasure!
Paddy Longs on Diversey/sheffield was my answer for longest until a few years ago.
Guess that leaves Monsignior Murphys. about 18ish years.

RIP Paddy Longs! Home of my first drink as a resident of Chicago in summer 2008 when I moved into a place at Lincoln and Diversey. Funny enough, I think I may have drank no more than once or twice more there before I moved south. Rocks on Schubert became our local instead...also RIP ;D
