Fantastic news!
No mention of a reclass. Though I do wonder if that comes after he finishes his current school year - or maybe not at all and he's simply a '26 guy.
Either way great news.
Awesome!
Welcome Sheek!

Excellent! Great start to the class of 2026.
Le freak, c'est Sheek, Freak Out !
Welcome, young man.
For those who commented at the time that our loss would negatively impact his recruitment
Pearson: "I was at the Xavier game (Sat., Jan. 18). It wasn't the post season game in NY but the regular season game in Milwaukee. They happened to lose that game, so for me, it was good to be in a team film session when they lost v. if they had won ... it was not good that they lost, obviously ... but from a recruit's perspective, it was good to see the full effect there was after a loss ... how they all went about responding."

Hard not to think about what Oso became after reading that article.
Another recruit references culture. Huh.
And the gap widens
Heard he needs to finish up some extra schoolwork this summer for the reclass to be official. Makes sense neither side will announce it until it is official.
Plus he still gets to play AAU this summer to increase his rankings, for those who care about that haha.
That's great news. I know his sister playing volleyball at Iowa State helped their cause a little bit. But he found his best fit at MU. Welcome Sheek.
Seems like we finally got our version of Jameel McKay all these years later.
Can't wait to see Sheek in the mix and what this staff can do with a high-caliber HS big.
Welcome 2 Warrior Nation, Sheek!
Welcome Sheek
KA FRIKIN BOOOOOOOM!!!!!! LFG!!!!
Great to get a big fella. Welcome young man.

That's cool - thanks for posting this.
Very excited about Shaka landing a top priority - and a big man who has the agility to both block shots and do all the other things Marquette wants in a 5.
Welcome to Marquette, Sheek!

You can't teach height.
Found some high school stats from a prep hoops Missouri article on his commitment
As a junior, he averaged 16.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks a game while shooting 69 percent from the field.
Pearson only issue is his weight right now, needs to add 30 pounds to compete in the Big East. Sort of same built as Clark, has lots of time to add pounds. Can see having twin towers 2 or 3 year from now, it will be fun to watch

Sheek is legit. On the rise player. Very good get for MU.
In high school ball, Sheek played with Tristan Reed, the younger brother of Tarris Reed Jr. They were twin towers so to speak. It was challenging for opponents to take both of them out of a game.
It's a smaller school. They moved up a classification this season. It's also one of the best 1, 2, or 3, (private) academic high schools in his state.
Taking a big every year and red-shirting them is a really smart investment. At worst, you'll get a serviceable big, and if one pops it'll be potentially program changing. I love Shaka's roster construction.
Who said he is redshirting? Shaka say something yet, he might be better then Clark and Hamilton?
See the YouTube video in Tall Titan's post. I don't know that is definitive, but the source is cited.

Great to hear.
From 247 after watching them play yesterday....,,,was in context of praising JJ Andrews.....
He did get some good help from Sheek Pearson (Marquette) and Trey Pearson. Sheek is a highly intriguing big man with size, length, athleticism but a frame that needs time to fill out. He had some impressive flashes on both ends of the court and is looking like a really nice pickup by Shaka Smart.

I love this decision for Sheek, who as a redshirt will have the opportunity to get stronger and to learn a lot without facing the pressure to produce on the court as a freshman.
But how common is it for a top-50 player to plan on redshirting? I know Sam Hauser's younger brother joined MU for the second semester after graduating HS in December, but that was injury related, right?

play for free in HS or get six figure rev share and other NIL while redshirting in college. I think this will become more common, especially since kids can take online classes and finish an entire semester in just a few weeks.

Marquette commit Sheek Pearson will reclassify into the 2025 class and join the Golden Eagles for the upcoming season, he told ESPN on Monday.
Pearson, who plans to redshirt as a freshman, originally committed to Shaka Smart's program back in May as a member of the 2026 class.
"I thought that it was best for my future to get more development," he told ESPN.
A 6-foot-11 center from John Burroughs High School (Missouri), Pearson is ranked No. 37 in the ESPN 100 for the 2026 class -- slotting in as the No. 4 player at his position. He's coming off a Nike EYBL season in which he helped lead Brad Beal Elite to the Peach Jam championship, averaging 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds.
He ranked in the top 10 in EYBL play in blocks per game
(1.8) and shot better than 64% from the field in seven games at the Peach Jam.
Though the rest of the 2026 class is taking its recruitments slowly -- only nine ESPN 100 prospects are committed -- Pearson made his pledge relatively early in the cycle. He cited his relationship with Smart as the primary reason behind his decision.
"I don't think I would have been able to build as good a relationship in the amount of time if I were to wait," he said. "They had been recruiting me for almost a full year.
The relationship was very strong."
Pearson becomes the third ESPN 100 prospect in Marquette's 2025 class, joining Nigel James (No. 68) and Michael Phillips II (No. 97). The Golden Eagles are also welcoming four-star guard Adrien Stevens and three-star forward Ian Miletic.
When Pearson hits the floor for the 2026-27 season, he will help replace senior Ben Gold, who returns to the center position after starting 34 games and averaging 7.4 points last season. Returnees Caedin Hamilton and Joshua Clark, who both previously redshirted, will provide depth behind Gold this season and compete with Pearson in 2026-27.
