If approved would see less " let's go to the monitor " for out of bounds plays in last few minutes.

That's the best part of the games

Especially when it takes a couple of minutes. It really ramps up the excitment and anticipation!

Gives TV more time to run commercials. It's important their corporate partners get more airtime
Plus it offers multiple opportunities for obtaining refills, bathroom breaks (the two are related), etc.

And they're entertaining! Especially when they show the same ones over and over. Like the emu who sells insurance? I just laugh at the concept every time.

While the commercials are running, the refs are talking about which team they should give the game to. Their agents are negotiating for the best bribe between the two teams and then give a secret signal to alert the refs which way to rule.

The refs definitely hate Marquette as much as ESPN hates the Big East

I must admit.....I'm one of the few that aren't as bothered by the monitor reviews( especially late) I'd rather get it right and take a few more minutes.
Where it does bother me is when coaches ask for a review ( and of course are granted it) EVERY TIME the ball goes out of bounds late in the game .....mostly just so they can get a free time out.
So I'm assuming that in order to challenge goal tending it would have to be called initially........don't see how it would be possible to do it any other way?

"We're just waiting on the call from Las Veg... I mean, New York!"
Basically the NBA rule, and it's vastly superior to what the college game has done the last several years.
What is most annoying is when the replay is so obvious and yet they take 5 minutes to make the call.

It's like waiting behind guys who can't hit the ball more than 150 being 250 out and waiting for the green to clear.

Sorry 'bout that!
If the game is on the line at the end, I would rather have the review to get the call right. I can live with an extra commercial.
Id prefer a rule change to review for clear and obvious fouls on St John's

The problem isn't with that "one" call ... it's the 5 or 8 or 10 stoppages to review every out of bounds play and/or every tenth of a second on the clock. And then sometimes they STILL get it wrong.
The end of almost every remotely close game is a barely watchable slog - and that's when games should be most exciting.
The reviews have neve bothered me. Id rather get it right
What they should really do is make every foul within the last two minutes a 3-shot shooting foul.
What really kills the game is when one team is up 3-points within 2 minutes of the game. Both the leading and trailing team keep fouling intentionally to shoot 2 free throws. It's ridiculous.

Just get rid of the bonus and make all bonus fouls 2 shots. Or you could reduce the shot clock further to have more possessions.

This bugs me because coaches teams have a limited number of timeouts in a game and are essentially awarded time to reset the offense or draw up a play, etc. They should not be allowed to huddle during reviews.

Remember when Bob McKillop was pissed because Buzz got to do that during the Davidson comeback?
I mean Bob, if you are unwilling to leave Jake Thomas to double Marquette's leading scorer as he drives to the basket, maybe that's on you.

Could not agree more - games have become unwatchable the last 2 minutes.

Having 16 TOs in a 40 minute game is not 'limited'.

Ok, perhaps a poor word. My point is there are many games where a team is looking at the prospect of running out of timeouts or is conserving timeouts in a close game and suddenly they gat a freebie because the shot clock might have been off by a second.

You also watch a lot of games on delay, so you can fast forward thru reviews. They're annoying as heck when watching live.

Excellent point. Of course often, one team does not want the clock to stop. ;)
Done deal.
It will essentially be the NBA rule, although college coaches won't be able to challenge foul calls. And it will eliminate the numerous reviews of out-of-bounds calls that have slowed the last 2 minutes of almost every game to a crawl.
Refs will still be able to review timing issues, whether or not a shot was a 3, etc.

I never thought of that. A very interesting idea.
The one and one and one suggestion gives me flashbacks to the "3 to make 2" rule in the NBA. That was a crazy rule. I wouldn't be surprised if young fans today think it was just a myth.

It was a rule during my early years as an NBA fan, and it was preposterous - let's give the best players in the world a "mulligan."
Thankfully, one or more powers that be realized how preposterous it was.

It was an ill thought rule to help eliminate deliberate fouls.

It's a terrible idea that would just incentivize more fouls. Just get rid of the one and one all together.

Then let's go one further and eliminate "deliberate" fouls. The player committing the "deliberate" foul in the last minute of play is out of the game.

It kind of stuns me that the line of credit/private equity route seems to be something schools are seriously considering. You'd think these people would be smart enough to see that financial escalation like that will only harm them in the long run. Maybe the people in charge need to use their free tuition to take a few more economics courses.
I'm just waiting for the first university that announces a deal with CashNetUSA.

Sorry I posted this in the wrong thread
What occurred to me reading it......if your plan on getting out of a financial hole is centered around making the college football playoffs you might want to rethink your plan.
Especially if you're Louisville.
Not that it Can't be done but it's not something they would reasonably be expected to do on any sort of regular basis.

In reading about this, it supposedly is due to previous debt payments that didn't take the decrease in revenue due to the House settlement under consideration. This supposedly gets them past those payments, at which point this will be refinanced. Not sure its a great idea but this at least makes some sense.
