I saw an interesting article this morning about the newer Cardinals watching Conclave to get an idea of what they're supposed to be doing.
https://www.politico.eu/article/cardinals-watch-conclave-movie-for-real-life-guidance/
It all might sound painfully relevant. The film is seen as remarkably accurate even by cardinals, said the cleric, making it a helpful research tool, especially at a time when so many of the conclave participants have little experience of Vatican politics and protocol.
Completely uninformed but picking the Filipino or African guys probably is a shrewd pick if they want to cater to their growth markets. All bout that ROI

The College of Cardinals should just go the transfer route and not go with unproven talent. Throw some NIL at the Patriarch of Constantinople.

What about Chicago?
The Big East tournament will be moving to the Vatican
"Cardinal George of Chicago, of happy memory, was one of my great mentors, and he said: 'Look, until America goes into political decline, there won't be an American pope.' And his point was, if America is kind of running the world politically, culturally, economically, they don't want America running the world religiously. So, I think there's some truth to that, that we're such a superpower and so dominant, they don't want to give us, also, control over the church."
