Dwayne Killings has an interesting idea.

Pardon the interruption, but what happens when that college president says "I'm not accepting this kid from UWM to this university." Then what?

Universities are not farm systems because there is no ownership ties between them. At that point, send the Big 10/SEC/Big 12 on its way and rebuild.

Why would a player do this?

Probably more fun to develop with playing time than just sitting on the bench. Not really that different from playing in the G League before getting the NBA call-up, or even going to a high major before getting drafted.

Right. But why limit your options as far as schools at any point? If you are a free agent every year, you can go wherever you believe is best annually.

NIL and the portal have mostly broken any sense of loyalty to programs or coaches, and likely to players themselves.

Sorry Sent-Down-Stevon, your former team found a better player in the portal to fill your spot.  Bummer for you.

A kid "sent down" to UAlbany is likely more interested in the portal route to get paid on an annual basis.

And maybe they aren't going to be a contributor at a power level school, but can certainly do better than a generally poor program in the America East.

MU could do this with Bradley.  For those of you who think Wardle is a good coach, let's see if he can develop MU's next aircraft carrier.

We could sign a Two-Way Coach contract. That way we can firmly establish him as Coach In Waiting.

There is no way Shaka wants Bradley to be MU's farm team and have fans exposed to the coaching wizardry of the Pontiff of Peoria.
