Title: Lee Corso Retiring from GameDay
Post by: Uncle Rico on April 17, 2025, 09:28:11 AM
Lee Corso will do his final Gameday on opening weekend of college football.

A legend in his craft, he'll be missed.  Wasn't great the last decade but was still a hoot at times.

Corso needs to retire no doubt. But McAfee makes the show completely unwatchable to me - but I am obviously not in their target audience.

Saban is pretty good but McAfee is a buffoon.  I hope McAfee doesn't try and start a new gimmick with Corso retiring.

He takes the worst of the Barstool Bro stereotype and amplifies it.

I'll be honest, I thought Corso retired a few years ago and was just doing a guest spot here and there.

I like Corso, but it was becoming uncomfortable to watch him. I hope he enjoys his retirement.

Agreed. It was almost a Weekend at Bernie's situation with Corso. But before his stroke he was so enjoyable on that show and brought tremendous insight.

And McAfee is awful. I wonder how long he stays on once he gets sued into oblivion for this BS:

It's only a matter of time before McAfee is a full-time Barstool employee

His WWE announcing gig is perfect for his buffoonery.

Can't remember the last time I watched GameDay. Based on what y'all are saying, it doesn't sound like I'm missing much.

That's where he got his start.  Portnoy hired him and that sort of precipitated his retirement/media transition.  He's far more of a buffoon character now than he was then and part of the split was the fact, beyond his bigger aspirations, was that he was a bit too much of a loose cannon, even for Barstool.
