The pieces my wife has are high quality. Expensive but worth it imo.

I have a few pair of the ABC shorts and they are absolutely fantastic.
Their stuff is expensive but depending on the piece/line, its good stuff. My wife acquired many pairs of yoga pants during COVID and her subsequent WFH transition, both Lululemon and some more reasonably priced comparables. The Lulu ones have held up much much better.

My wife and girls love it. It's expensive. Their warranty is fantastic. My girls have had items for years and if something tears, wears out, etc. they make it right. It used to be they always just went ahead and replaced it with new, but now they sometimes repair it instead.

I remember hearing the story in grad school in the early 2010s and recall a few classmates immediately thinking it was a gross racially insensitive action. I thought it was clever but was pretty agnostic on it. One of my group partners in the course was from Hong Kong and he shrugged and basically said "I can see why he did it".
Then a few years later I started working in Asia, traveling there extensively, and seeing that region's reaction to "Western" fashion, highlighted by seeing someone in a HK bar wearing a Cleveland Indians t-shirt, starting a conversation about it and finding out they barely spoke English, didn't like baseball, had no clue where Cleveland was, and got it at a random store in TST, but it was cool cause it was apparently an American sports team, which was exotic and trendy. Then it totally made sense.
Same was true the first time I went to Shanghai and saw Yankees, Phoenix Suns, Pittsburgh Penguins, and other random teams in stores that were not officially licensed apparel and much more "fashion" focused than sports apparel.
Shortly thereafter Western luxury brands started opening more stores in China and Asia, and lots more affluent Asians started traveling to Europe and the US to shop, instead of just going to HK or a major city. So I don't think the Western exoticism play would really work, but in the early 2000s, it was absolutely a phenomenon.
