Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Cracketology: Bracket Brokedown
Post by: brewcity77 on March 17, 2025, 12:32:07 PM
If you just want bracket content, this isn't the article for you. If you want a rant about the failure of a selection process that snubbed West Virginia, that mis-seeded a few teams egregiously even when you use the very metrics that "support" the seeding, the disadvantage geographically and metrically that 1-seeds were placed at, and the big bonus the Selection Chair got for "his team" being the last team in, then this is right up your alley.

I don't think any of Gavitt's words between the Big Ten semi final games were by accident. His comments about the committee looking at Q1 and Q2 combined immediately raised an alarm. I checked the NET and sure enough UNC was 8-0 in Q2. That's when I knew they were in for sure. Then he said some BS about player availability and not all Q1 games are the same or whatever and it was obvious they were planting the seed to screw some team over.

However, I'm not going to get worked about it because it didn't impact MU at all. The committee gave us a very fair seed, put us in the closest location possible, and sent the badgers out west. 10/10 in my eyes.

And a great job also in shredding a number of scoopers for their bracket "expertise".  ;D

Eh, egregious snubs happen every year - part of the tradition at this point- truth of the matter is that the first team out was probably in control of their own destiny and blew it - you can't lose your 1st rd tourney game to a team that was 3-17 in your conference and then cry about it.

Generally I agree with you, but I can't recall a snub of this magnitude, where there are potential conflicts of interest all over the place.

The UNC thing, with the AD as chairman of the selection committee, stinks stinks stinks.

And yet, if any of the snubbed wins one more game ...

Went to PT this morning for my ankle/foot problems. My PT was wearing his NC shirt and is an avid alum fan. I told him that if anyone came in wearing WV gear, he should go hide somewhere until the guy leaves.

Oh, I don't know...once the committee decides to screw a team...what's one more win? I mean UNC was 8-0 against Q2 teams...
