For all you twitter users a fun little twitter war has been going on between Marquette fans and Seth Davis.
Seth even blocked Paint Touches for posting stats!
What's the context?
Sounds about right from MU's side of things.

This was the start:

Since then Paint Touches has been posting actual stats showing how valuable Kam has been.
Seth had no answer to those stats other than to just block Paint Touches.

Hahahahahahahahaa. What a take from Seth.
Marquette fans really have the thinnest of skins.
He's a big ten stooge. Not surprising.
Seems that Shaka has been using this for bulletin board material. This feels like the "outsiders" that are naysaying.
We should maybe give a gift basket to Seth. Team was needing something to unify them and get a chip on their shoulder--this is it.

Such a contrarian.
Seth got proven wrong with facts, he should be appropriately dunked on for being a clown.

I would argue the guy blocking the account simply posting stats has the thinnest of skins.

Are Marquette fans not supposed to support their guys when dumb things are said?
Your posts have been on a remarkable downslide since December.

No I have always thought that getting into Twitter arguments with the likes of Davis is dumb.
Any excuse a Marquette fan has for feeling slighted, they take.

Good thing your opinion of my posts means nothing to me. See how easy that is?

How is this any different than getting into Scoop arguments? Equally as dumb. But fun!

Nice attempt at policing.
It's Twitter. Seth Davis was offended enough by Kams play to Tweet nonsense, so it seems some fans are giving right back. No harm no foul.
I was gonna go to the tweet and send something but since it's so offensive to bite back on Twitter, I just liked everyone else's responses to his post instead!
Nope

In no way shape or form was I "policing." Nice try though.

Also, literally every fansbase on Twitter reacts to negativity about their team.
It's not some thin skinned marquette thing.
Like Kam did yesterday. And earlier in the season defending Ben.
Seth has been on a remarkable downslide for quite some time.
I think it makes sense that Marquette fans are naturally a little sensitive about our team. We are often overlooked by the local media in Wisconsin, by the East Coast media within the Big East, and by national outlets would prefer to cover P5/football schools. It gives our fans a chip on their shoulder that makes things fun when someone online "disrespects" the team or our players. Plus, dunking on freezing cold takes is what makes Big East twitter fun.

Most, if not all, of the national CBB podcasts I've listened to have some kind of bit about at least one member of the podcast "hating" Marquette because of the fans on social media. They don't do it about many teams. Indiana being one of the others.

Seth specializes in sharing a bold opinion that is designed to draw a response. I get a hint of insecurity from him when he's next to Jay Wright, Clark Kellogg, etc who have accomplished so much in the game whereas he is just a mere sports writer compared to them. Sort of feel bad for him actually.

He and Jeff Goodman thrive on the negative interactions that draw eyes.

Idk listen to any BE centric ones and I get the vibe we ain't even top 5 in our own league
And providence is unanimously 1st at the very least.
I follow a bunch of CBB twitter stuff and I see the seth David Kam replies for any pundit making a comment on any team or player. I find them entertaining.
Meh. Just how Seth processes things.

Providence definitely the worst. Good call.

Interesting. Any podcasts in particular? I admittedly haven't listened to any of the big CBB pods much during the rough stretch we've had these past several weeks, but I'm usually an avid listener and have never heard anything about MUBB fans specifically, at least not during the past two or so years.
In terms of bias, I find that Marquette is consistently talked about quite positively by the Eye on CBB and the Field of 68 (minus John Martin & Goodman), even after losses. The Sleepers pod is pretty anti-MU and Big East, however, which tracks since they're B1G/MSU homers.

Norlander pretty consistently says stuff along the lines of "You've always hated Marquette!" to Gary Parrish when he "doesn't trust the building" and picks against MU, because Marquette fans yell at him.
One Shining Podcast used to talk about it before they split into two separate podcasts.

Gee...do we know any fans of Marquette and Indiana who is an annoying online presence?

Haha I do find Gary's opinion on NBA arenas entertaining since it's kinda valid. Haven't ever heard him mention MU fans specifically, but maybe that's just by chance.

He loves his little homie from memphis, he's 42% percent boilermaker, he doesn't trust the building, you've always hated marquette, etc.
They're just doing bits on eye on cbb. Just having fun, joking around. I honestly think they do quite like shaka, and don't really have strong opinions about Marquette or its fans either way, if I had to guess.

They give Marquette a lot of love and think they like Shaka. I do think they find MU fans annoying. And they aren't alone.

I am submerged in self loathing too. I am here for u and all
Maybe this is a discussion for another thread, but I've always been under the impression that Marquette is a fairly likable fanbase. There are some notoriously annoying ones out there and I've never heard anyone put MU in that conversation. Not even when it comes to just the Big East.
This could very well be biased and maybe it's generational (I'm in the 20-30 y/o demographic), but most other non-MU fans I've talked to have always said they find us to be among the more classy and respectful fans in the BE, whereas UConn & Providence are on the less polite end and Creighton is the whiniest of the bunch.
I'm sure there are plenty of insufferable MU fans, but at the end of the day, every fanbase is their own worst critic. And I don't think MU is nearly as bad as others out there.

In my travels, I've found Xavier and Butler fans to be classy and easy to deal with.
And I've found DePaul fans to be ... wait ... I haven't found any DePaul fans.

Or maybe both
Providence fans are the trailer trash of the BE. Sat amongst a bunch of them last year at the BET, if it weren't for no class they wouldn't have any class. I had someone take a swing at me during the MU/PC game, trust me I did nothing to justify that, was just cheering loudly for MU. MSG did escort the guy out.
Talking to other BE fans at bars etc last year they all said PC fans were bad news.
Xavier fans are very solid.
