Title: Bursting Bubbles
Post by: wadesworld on March 13, 2025, 03:53:14 PM
Tower's busy golfing.  Some fan he is.  So this can be the post game thread.

Hell of an effort by the team.  Back to back incredibly entertaining games for MU.  Finally closed out a close game.  Xavier deserves to be in the Tournament.  They're very good offensively.  Injuries hurt them this year.  If we hit shots like today, we'll be tough to beat in the Tournament.

Kam is a stud, Stevie is a dog, Royce can score but is overmatched physically defensively.  He'll get there.

Golfing is over.  I am glad MU won a nailbiter.  Congratulations to all involved.

Wasn't able to watch and only followed the last couple minutes. I'm sure the game thread was full of the usual level-headed patience.

Stevie is now, I believe, 17 points away from 1,000 for his career.

VERY entertaining game.  Honestly, worth watching if you get a chance.  I think Peacock has the replays available?

This team needed a win like this so badly. Could pay huge dividends pre-tourny.

I was thinking the same thing – it's like a giant monkey being lifted off their backs.

I stayed out today.  I know we have our significant disagreements regarding officiating but I think I'm going to wade back into the game thread to check out some of hilarity.

I don't think Xavier's bubble is burst yet.

There are going to be several teams watching anxiously on Sunday to see who gets those spots in Dayton.

Buzz Williams could help Xavier if he could bring his team from behind to knock off Texas.

It looks like UNC might luck out by playing Duke without Flagg The selection committee chair might have an excuse for getting them in.

They're right on the bubble, but it's hard to put a team in that has 1 Q1 win on the entire season.

Not that it is a huge difference, but I think UConn climbed into a 2nd Q1 win for X. I agree they are a tourney caliber team.

All of the teams that are in that spot have their warts, whether it be a bad record in Q1 and Q2 games, Q3 losses, weak OOC schedule, or whatever.

Holy crap - I did not watch second half.  I will fully admit Marquette is now a better team than Xavier.

I agree X is a tourney team. I hope the committee considers the impact of Freemantle missing games. They'd have possibly challenged CU for 2nd in conference if healthy. Hopefully the Big East gets 5 bids. (Side note, loved Depaul's effort last night. Hoping they are on an upswing...not at MU's expense, of course.)

Xavier's downfall is going 1-9 in Quad 1 games.  If they don't make the tournament it will be because they failed in games that mattered most.
