Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Cracketology: Championship Week Watchlist
Post by: brewcity77 on March 10, 2025, 12:30:49 PM
Today at Cracked Sidewalks, we break the field down into six buckets of teams. We go through the 1-seed contenders, the protected seeds, the middle seeds (where Marquette is), teams that are safely in, then the bubble both in and out.

This past weekend really cleared up the bubble where it looks like the teams that are out are going to stay out and the teams that are in only need to worry about bid thieves. We also preview the upcoming matchups for everyone in Marquette's grouping and have a new S-curve (no bracket until Wednesday, though).

One more note...if Creighton or UConn win the Big East Tournament, I think we likely fall behind that team. Decent chance one of them winning could push us to an 8-seed.

And 1 of them is almost guaranteed to get there with how the bracket is structured.

Damn!

UConn certainly could win the BET ... or lose to Nova on Thursday. Getting the #2 seed earned Creighton a Thursday game against GT or DeP - so they pretty much can't lose before the semis.

Certainly seems like we gotta get to the Title game or win it to avoid the 8/9 game.

Is this hyperbole? Win the big east tournament to avoid the 8 9 game. What were in 12 seed range at the moment?

Worried.

Huh?

Brew just said that if UConn or Creighton win the Big East Tournament then we will possibly get passed on the 7 line.

If they are getting to the title game and we are bowing out in round 1 it gives the committee even more reason to make a seedline flop like that.

I'm not convinced MU is currently an 8 seed.  However, I do sorta agree that whatever seed they "are" (I know, seeding hasn't happened yet), they'd have to at least make the BET final to move much at all (because conference tourneys don't usually affect seeding much).

On the plus side, it's good to hear someone say 6. Two wins in the BET, I Agree. Of course a blood bath for Brews third group can help us or go the other way and keep us down.

I've seen a couple of reputable bracket sites have us at 8...so need those wins.

I'm sorry we might be Xs demise. Want 5  BE in still possible I guess after we throttle them.  ;)

PS. another nice article. Helps be root thru all the bball this week.

Losing to Xavier will push us to an 8 seed.

Didn't GT crush CU earlier this year? So.....maybe they can lose.

Anybody could lose to anybody. Virginia and Purdue lost opening-round NCAAT games as 1 seeds. UConn lost a few weeks ago to Seton Hall. Crazy stuff happens.

But Georgetown is without its best player and is in a free-fall. They'll have enough trouble beating DePaul, let alone Creighton.

But sure, they "could" beat Creighton. That's why they play the games.

Sure. Let's bet. I'll take Creighton, even. $100?

I wonder if Gonzaga's win over St. Mary's to win the WCC could edge them ahead of MU if MU loses to Xavier.
