Marquette played a great game and they should be proud of their effort. Practice foul shots.
I'm prepared for the mope squad to crucify me but zero depth or diversity in scoring.
No one to spell our guards and getting beat up on the glass with no help behind our only two bigs.

Yep. We do not have the horses, and are trending downward, badly.

Please don't criticize college athletes who are now being paid for their services. It will lead to others who can't see straight calling you an idiot or embarrassment.

What's this even mean? They make money so lightest criticism is inappropriate? Why? Can we attack the walk ons cause they don't get paid? Weird post

I think this is fair. The starting 5 is legit and I trust Zaide, but depth that's ready is lacking this year. You can see the talent, but I don't trust anyone much beyond those 6.
Still think we make a run though. If we can't beat X Thursday I might change my tune, but we're playing well in about 90% of areas now.

I guess 3 pt shooting, rebounding, or free throws are in the 10%?
It takes a certain personality to want to be on the line in the clutch. This team lacks that personality. Does Aaron Hutchins have eligibility left?
FT's? They matter?

It was a sarcastic remark for those who refuse to offer any critical analysis of the team.

We rebounded evenly with one of the best rebounding teams in the country today and have been a good offensive rebounding team in conference play. 3rd best behind SJ and UConn.
3p shooting is what it is.
Free throws were awful today but we're fine at 72% as a team for the season.
So yeah. If we made 1 more free throw in regulation you guys wouldn't even be whining like teenagers. We're playing well. Need to finish games.
Chase made two soft plays at the wrong time.

More just reflects on y'all who like to crap on 18-22 year olds. You're free to criticize. But it says a lot about you as a person when at 18-22 most of us were mostly useless kids trying to find our way as adults. And you're publicly trashing people you've never met who are giving max effort.
You can criticize and keep the humanity in it. Some of y'all are out of control and have no perspective.

I'm not a fan of ripping college players, but we do need some perspective. The players are older than most of the guys that hit the beach on Iwo Jima.
I'll also add another thing... Coaching.
It was nice to have two more "coaches on the floor" with Tyler and Oso. Because I'm starting to see some cracks when it comes to the head coach.
Having them go over high ball screens for Kadary for most of that game was so goddamn stupid. Give him the Giannis treatment.
Zero feel for when to use a timeout. Bit him on Wednesday. Happened again early and late today. Let SJU erase that early 8 point lead when it was clear they weren't guarding at a high enough level. Then using the final timeout with 48 seconds left in regulation was silly. Think they could have used it when they had the ball with :10 left?
And running the same two BLOB sets that everyone and their mom has scouted is just so irritating.
Putting Chase, who had an awful game, back in hurt rather than Lowery who is a solid enough rebounder was a choice.
I still like Shaka and think he can do some things here, but this also has not been his best work on the sidelines.

Really not sure what point you're trying to make. Some of the guys who hit the beach on Iwo Jima tripped and fell a bunch. Should we rip them too?
College sports is about winning but it's also about growth. Some of you are too caught up in the former to appreciate the latter.

It is about winning. But in a non-elimination game against the #6 team in the country where we lost by two, there are lots of positives.
Mainly, it's clear to anyone with eyes that we're playing way better than we did 1-2 months ago. The fact that everyone would acknowledge that if Stevie makes his second free throw but won't since we lost is crazy to me.

I suspect our FT% was a lot better earlier in the season. Feels like it's been very bad lately.

You mean we can coach our players to improve a facet of their game midseason? That runs counter to the past decade of Marquette basketball

They're not kids anymore. Let's not overstate the challenge of dealing with some criticism and adversity.
Pitino is such a great coach he emphasizes making free throws hey? Interestingly his team does it at a worse clip than Shaka's team does, and not by an insignificant margin.

We lost because St John's defenders are long and athletic and in the instances where a primary SJ defender got beat off the dribble, the help was outstanding, and sometimes even the initial SJ defender used his quickness to close back in to thwart the MU shot attempt or get a hand on a pass. They recover on D better than anyone I've seen this year. Extremely well-coached team, just like Marquette in that regard.
I think we lost because America no longer values community, only self.

St. John's is better coached and the guy is pure sleaze
Yes willie...Rick Pitino is a great coach. He's been at a great level for 40 years. His teams always play really hard. The list of coaches better than him in college basketball is very, very short.
