Title: End of season BE Standings
Post by: denverMU on February 27, 2008, 11:00:33 AM
Obviously having waaayyyy too much time on my hands, I took the time to try and predict the top 12 BE teams finish for the rest of the year.  Below are the results, if I'm correct we end up in 3rd place ahead of both G'TOWN and ND because of tie breakers (win head to head with GTOWN and win against GTOWN to beat ND).  This would give us a buy in the first round of the BE Tourney and our first game would be against the winner of WVU/SH.  Then a game against SYC/CONN winner and in finals against winner of LOUV/GTOWN.

1.Louisville  15-3
2.UCONN     14-4
3.MU          13-5
4.GTOWN    13-5
5.ND           13-5
6.WVU        11-7
7.CINCI       10-8
8.PITT        9-9
9.VILL         9-9
10.SYC        9-9
11.SH          9-9
12.DEP        9-9

FYI we would win this tie breaker with GU ND in a different way.  3+team ties are decided by record against those teams.  So in this scenario nothing would change, but as results come in it might make a difference.

3. MU 2-1 (must beat GU)
4. GU 1-1 (Beat ND)
5. ND 1-2

Not sure if this would change your 9-9 teams.  What are your assumptions for the final games?

geez denver, are you a depaul alum or something?  you had them beating West virginia, Notre dame, @cincy and @pitt in their last four to get to 9-9?  That's crazy...

Sorry, that was a typo.  I think they will finnish 6-12.  The rest of the games have gone as planned so far.  If we win out a 3 seed would be a great help for us in the BE tourney.
