1. Go with the simplest answer. MU beat them.
2. I almost went with Hoya Suxa, but I have used it before and this was more about what MU did rather than what Georgetown didn't do.
3. Back to back destruction, one at home, now one on the road.
4. Starters scored the first 56 points. Tre's strong move broke that streak. Not the bench's best game.
5. FWIW, I had as much problem with this Peacock feed as I did for the DePaul game.
6. Sure, MU had a flat stretch. Predictable. A lead that big, oops.
7. Nice double double, Kam
8. Full Jop show tonight. All of the good, all of the frustration.

I had more than a few pixilated stretches and a couple spinning wheels, but that may have been more on my internet
Georgetown made it interesting.
But things settled down and MU prevailed.
We'll see what's what these next two games. This one just showed we can actually make shots on someone else's floor .
We suck and should have hired Pitino like I said
24-33 from 2 was nice.
Massive week for MU.

Kam as great as he is, needs to make some outside shots away from home! Nice game by Ben. Season starts this week!
Blowing a 28 point lead is inexcusable. I mean yeah we didn't blow the lead but we blew it and it's inexcusable
I didn't care for our "flat stretch". That's a euphemism for a meltdown. It's time to bring it on Wednesday and then Saturday.
Had a good feed all night from Peacock.
Problems may be more with your ISP. Our's is fiber optic all the way in the house to the box.

Cooley's gonna end up taking Georgetown for about $30 million before they realize he isn't it.

Mine is fiber optic, too. Had similar problems to a lesser degree during the IU/Washington game. The only time I have problems with any streaming service is Peacock and live sports.

The bench has been playing much better for a while. Not sure why one game with limited production indicates "limited depth going forward".

Sir, this is a Wendy's
No issues with Peacock for this game or anything on it. Would actually prefer if all the games were on here.
Kam was phenomenal passing the ball in the first half. We have to run some sets for him to free up some open looks from deep.
I like the Gold of the last 2 games.
Jop had a good overall game but man he should never really dribble.
Seemed like the bench minutes are starting to get a little squeezed. They will need to produce better when they get the chance.
We didn't have enough deflections this game. I think we were at 16 at the under 8 minute timeout.
A view from the other side of the house:
1. Marquette can defend, a given. Georgetown's guards were historically bad: 5 for 27. Jayden Epps was 2 for 15 and looked every bit of it.
2. You can't win without a center. Or a backup center.
2. Georgetown has no bench.
3. Capital One Arena is the worst arena in major college basketball. With one mid-week game remaining, it is averaging 5,688 a game, but thanks offered to road fans like MU and UConn who help support this average. 15 years ago, it was 12,675. Ten years ago, nearly 10,000. Seriously, how do you reach an audience that has all but walked away from the program? And this is not on Patrick Ewing anymore, either.
Ben balling is big for us, as is a balanced scoring attack

You've asked this a few times, but the answer is fairly easy- you win.
I know the times they seem so dark right now, and it seems hard to get out of the darkness, but winning is the answer.
How do you win? It's all on the head coach.
Look at Shaka at Marquette and how quick it came.
TJO at Iowa St
Rick at StJ
Etc etc
I mean, StJ was just as decrepit as GTown a few years ago and now the Garden will be rocking to celebrate the Big East Champs in a few weeks.
Oh, I forgot to mention get a rich donor that pours a ton into the basketball program. I'm sure GTown has a lot of rich donors, they just need to unlock the pours into bball part.
No idea if Cooley is the answer, but I'm not convinced. They have to let him try for a while longer but the turnarounds we see are super quick now.
It's almost as if he can bring in recruits but doesn't have the ability to bring about a winner like Rick, or Shaka.
Rick uses his hall of fame abilities and elite defensive coaching abilities, Shaka uses his culture and ceo leadership/relationship building.
So, the answer is to win, but how they win is for someone else to figure out
Winning is not a linear argument. Overall attendance is down 10 percent from a 7-24 season last year.

Ok I get that a lot of the regulars have stopped showing up.
Don't you think that winning the BE in year 2 of a new coach- BOTH Marquette And StJ in the last 5 years- would get that attendance back over 10k with the quickness?
You bet your arse it would.
Problem is it's not easy to catch that lighting in a bottle.
Unfortunately gone are the days where fans are cool with a solid middle of the pack program, if Cooley gets GTown there.
Fans want a winner. They've seen it elsewhere and they want it for their program.

It was neither a "meltdown" nor "inexcusable." We didn't "blow a lead."
Marquette easily built a 1,000-point lead against a bad team, and then lost focus for a fairly short stretch.
The outcome was never in doubt. We ended up pulling away again to nearly double the spread.
3 blowout wins in our last 4 games, generally playing quite well with a balanced offense and good D.
Folks need to find something else to freak out about.

Curious that Shaka didn't do a line change during the Georgetown push. Maybe he just wasn't feeling it from the bench.

i agree...and I would say Cooley has Gtown to mid-pack status in year 2. Maybe a notch below Nova but certainly ahead of DeP., SH, Butler and Prov.. MU never dropped to the depth of despair...that final year w/Buzz or through the Wojo era...as GTwon did end of JTIII and Ewing. If MU had, I wonder how attendance would have gone? Regardless, I do think Cooley continues an upward trajectory. Georgetown still has a 'name'. It's a Jordan brand school. IMO, Georgetown winning is good for the conference just as a resurgence at StJ's is good for the conference. We are the Big Rast, after all. The east coast media machine can be a big asset to the conference too. Highly ranked programs StJ, UConn, Gtown and 'Nova would be great. Swing west with a strong MU and resurgence at DeP would be perfect.

One more point: Capital One Arena is a soulless place to watch a college basketball game and fans know it. Other than DePaul there is not a single arena that offers so little in amenities to the fan base and attendance is tracking at 29 percent capacity. A lot of students simply won't go.
Maybe it's contagious: the Wizards are last in NBA attendance, too.

Yeah it's a terribly designed place for hoops. I've been out there a few times and it's hard to get a real HC advantage with how far you feel from the floor in most of the place.
First game I saw out there was the centennial anniversary game against MU, where Jeff Green went off. Even when the Hoyas made the late run it wasn't all that loud and the place was full.

It was interesting to see the rotation shorten relative to the recent weeks. Only Zaide got double digit minutes, and 4/5 starters over 30 minutes. This after most of February when several bench guys were easily averaging double digit minutes and in a few cases getting more minutes than some of the starters.
It may just be a one-off, but I wonder if Shaka had a plan to use February to spread the minutes around more for both load management (and there were some minor injuries to be cautious with) for the starters but also depth development for both the postseason and next year. But now in March, shortening things back up more in crunch time absent injuries and/or somebody really struggling. I'm curious to see how minutes go in these next two games.
