Title: Pirates SOTG
Post by: wadesworld on February 18, 2025, 09:59:55 PM
Kam.

Bench as a whole deserves a shoutout and Gold played well defensively and made a couple 2 pointers.

Ben. Dude needed a good game.

I'd give it to the bench.  I thought RP, DO, ZL, and Tre all played very solid tonight.

Nice balance tonight so it's a tough call for SOTG.

I'll go with Tre as he was solid and seems to be gaining confidence (along with ZL).

Ben had a nice game as well.

Kam. He controlled it to build the lead out.

Ben looked a lot more mobile and healthier. Big week off if that's the norm going forward.

Ben had 10 points 6 rebounds and wall up defense. Plus feel Ben needs or deserves some love. Very close but am going with Ben over Kam. Honorable mention Kam. 2nd Honorable mention Chase.

I don't know about him deserving love ... Gold simply deserves SoG.

Played well on both ends of the court; moved well offensively; scored inside and out; had 6 boards including a couple of tap-outs that led to buckets; affected numerous Seton Hall shots without fouling.

After that, I'd go Ross just ahead of Kam, but I have no problem with the way you rank them. (And I'll bet you're relieved to hear that!)

Kam and the bench played well including Norman, Owens, Parham, even Hamilton yet the nudge goes to Ben for his D, rebounding, drives and especially on getting his touch back on 3s.

He is giving his all and was the first to congratulate the struggling Norman after a tough put back. I believe Tre made all his FTs after that gesture by Ben.

Ben.....6 rebounds and 10 points in 21 minutes.

Making a couple of 2 pointers and mixing up his offensive game a little was great to see......need more of that going forward.

One of my buddies turned around at the game when they announced Ben Gold in the introductions and gave the ol' student section "Sucks!" in light of his recent performances.

For that reason, he is the stud of the game for defying the odds.

Ben was playing well up until Uconn where he got injured. He finally got a week to rest. No surprise he started playing better again. he's a good player.

Kenpom has Chase, and he was very good. I'd still go Kam.

Hoop Explorer (the table posted by Paint Touches) has Kam narrowly over Gold.

I'd give the edge to Ben, as I think he had a big defensive impact, but he, Kam and Chase each was very good.

It's Kam.  I'll get it posted here in a moment.  I too was surprised to see Chase was the most important by Kenpom & Barttorvik, but there was a such a visible difference with Kam on the floor vs off.

Ben had a solid game, but not stud-worthy.

The question is, how can they be called Pirates and we cannot be Warriors?  Pirates were vicious killers, robbers, plunderers, rapists and a menace to society.    Warriors just fight their battles.

There ought to be a major investigation into this lol. 😆

I feel like such a fool.  All this time I thought the SOTG was a vote.  I guess I never cared enough to look back on the threads to realize the eventual selection has nothing to do with the posts.  This realization annoyed me for a good 15 seconds before remembering I don't really care.
