It's 2025. Who listens to radio?

I'm sure there's 3000 reasons. But mine is because im up in the UP driving with very spotty internet.
And obviously 94.5 doesn't reach.
Me. A couple really good local stations. One AAA format, one whatever the heck they want. Keeps me up to date on new stuff.
Fyi... 1570 does indeed carry the mu game.
I wouldn't be shocked if its the only one that does.
I'm turning this into a different thread.
Tony and Homer are awful together. The flow gets broken up so much, and I'm lost and confused as to what is going on in the game.

Then they're calling a great game, because our players are lost & confused too!

I think Homer and TSmith are great. Listen to every game with the tv volume down. Besides, who wants to hear a tv guy say Ben Gold is a 'shooter'?

Checks out.

I would rather have Lappas and Simpkins on my couch narrating a game than listen to Homer.
I am genuinely curious whether anyone who didn't grow up listening to Homer thinks he is a good play-by-play guy?

I'm going to tell your BIL you'd rather listen to a RED grad. Disgusting.

This.
I didn't ... and he is one of the very worst p-b-p guys I've ever heard.
When we were out of the country on vacation last year and had to listen to a game on the radio, it was brutal. "Why doesn't he tell the listeners what's going on?" was my wife's frequent complaint. She wasn't wrong.

- People who are driving and don't want to crash because they're watching a stream on their phone.
- People who aren't signed up for 17 different streaming services but still want to follow the game.
- Visually impaired fans who get more from a radio broadcast than television.
- People living paycheck to paycheck who can't afford cable or streaming services
- People who work during a game in a job where a radio is allowed but a device that can stream the game is not
- People stuck at their great-aunt Gertrudes 94th birthday party in the boonies with poor cell reception and happens to be during a game
Do you need more?

I didn't grow up listening to him but I actually liked him and thought he did well before Tony Smith joined him. I think Tony is a great guy, but his timing and the way he delivers what he wants to say absolutely does not mesh well with Homer. The whole thing is thrown off and haven't thought the broadcasts very good ever since.

I'd rather crash my car into my Great-Aunt Gertrude's 94th birthday party than listen to Homer.

Well now this just seems excessive.

does he still say "heartbreak" on a point blank MU miss?
Maybe Great Aunt Gertrude is rich and he has seen the will.

So I didn't "grow up" with Homer but have listened to him for 15 years +/-.
The Jim MacAlvane years were truly magic.
But I don't care if a poll says Homer is awful and one day they might let him go because of poor ratings or they think he's just not good. I like listening to him and will turn on 94.5 every time and turn down the TV.
I blame the marketing department

Threw my hands into the air multiple times because I got lost in the play due to Homer:
"This ball will be out on Creighton, marquette foul, badgers shooting 2. Luke fischer at the line...Tony, do they look mad, they do don't they? 25 second fight with Tony. 10 second station id. Marquette is up by 15. It'll be depaul ball when we return"
What?
Traking via espn play by play was literally better.

I do remember it being better with Jim. Tony and homer have no flow.

Wierd.
Well, the way the team has been playing who would want to listen to anyone.

Why even bother being on here discussing the team at this point?
If this thread shows anything, "Home Team" is a love him or hate him kind of guy. He's been around forever -- or it least it seems that way -- and probably isn't going anywhere. I just can't see Marquette saying so-long to such a legend in his own mind.
College basketball radio is such a low-budget operation that it's barely going to be attractive to anyone whose current gig isn't WMUR Radio.
So, if Homer were exiled to overnight sports talk on a 500 watt AM station, who would replace him?
Muggsy and Sultan.
