I believe this is a list that has been narrowed to 10 or 15 names. Don't have the full list yet. Will share if I see it.
Must not read scoop.

Stevie is a monster.
Anyone recall any other MU names making this list in the past?
Did Wade? Butler? Anyone else?

To be fair, most Scoopers think Stevie is a damn good defensive player.
Marquette's Stevie Mitchell?

You are right. Starting now, I am letting that one go.

The only one I thought would be Darryl Morsell, but he didn't make the list in 2021.
Wojo finally recruited a player who plays defense like he did.
(This is for you, newsie. Ducks and waddles away)
Seriously, though, the list of truly elite MU defenders over the last 40 years is not as long as one would like.
Mandy Johnson
Tony Miller
Dominic James
Jim McIlvane
Jimmy Butler
Jerel McNeal
I am sure others will add or subtract to/from that list. Which is fine. The larger point stands.
Good for Stevie.
This season Stevie has moved into 2nd place on my list of all-time favorite Marquette defensive guards
Dwyane Wade, Stevie Mitchell, Dominic James, Vander Blue, Jerel McNeal

Dwyane Wade was defensive player of the year in the conference. He was elite on both sides.
Am I crazy/misremembering Jae Crowder as a hound defensively? He averaged 1.0 blocks, 2.5 steals, and 6.4 defensive rebounds per game.
I remember Joe Chapman being a very good defender and someone who took pride in taking charges.

He's currently listed at 6'6" 235 on the Kings roster. Jop is listed 6'8" 225.
Jae finished his Senior season near 18 points 9 rebounds per game. Wish Jop would use his size to grab more boards and get a few more easy buckets at the basket rather than chuck 3s all day. He's taken 156 3s this year, 33 more than Kam who's 2nd on the team.
I would just like him to make more. Which has nothing to do with Stevie and other great MU defenders.

I think Jops defense has come a long way. Just venting some frustrations with his effort and decision making at times by comparing him to Jae who was also an undersized 4, but did all those effort and decision making things well.
