Where have all our outside shooters gone? Gold hasn't hit any in 2 games. Kam seems to have lost his touch. Maybe Shaka should either recruit some shooters or modify his no transfer rule and get some.

It's been a real struggle in recent games.
Kam and Jop were great shooters up until this year. If anyone saw this type of regression coming, they'd be billionaires betting on sports.
A lot of it is because shot quality has plummeted. We are a poor passing team and don't get many good looks.

No Kolek setting them up? This team could have used a serviceable grad transfer pg to give Kam some time off the ball too

Some of it, sure. But Kam and Jop have had plenty of open looks from the perimeter and just aren't making them. And now they seem hesitant to even attempt them.
Kam's shooting struggles are a total enigma to me. It doesn't look the same coming out of his hands.
Today's game mirrored the XU game. The difference is XU missed most of their 3's. But to do this twice on our home floor is troubling for sure. Our half-court offense is not handling drop coverage well at all.
Does MU not employ a sports psychologist?

Yep, Muggs right.
Kam and Jop don't look comfortable shooting the outside shot, the bread and butter of their offensive games the last 3 seasons.
That's actually a good thing imo, as I see that confidence returning before things are said and done.
Hopefully at the perfect time in March

What's so funny?
That I think it's a good thing this years team is elite with Kam and Jop shooting career lows from 3?
They are nowhere close to their normal abilities and the team has been playing well.
I think that's a good thing, because one or both are due to have a positive regression.
Good shooters don't miss forever

This team has not been "playing well". Well enough to beat a bunch of mediocre to poor conference mates in ugly slogs I guess.

It's a top 4 BE team ranked in the top 10 nearly all season that is top 20 in KenPom.
What's your definition of playing well?
I'm not attacking you because yea it's been more of a struggle of late, but not playing well isn't accurate
Need a point guard.
Kam is not running off of screens and getting rhythm jumpers.
Jop is an enigma.
We had 5 assists the entire game.
Yes. Our overall passing in our offensive sets has not been good. It was at Providence but we haven't
really moved the ball like that since.

Maybe, just maybe, they both had the best PG in MU history feeding them in rhythm. Now Kam has that job, expending much energy with the ball always in his handa.

Joplin will never be hesitant.

It is accurate over past few games. And now they face 2 of the conference leaders in their place. Watch how well that goes. They need to win both to Stat atop the conference. Then they are playing well.
I do think willie is 100% spot on why Kam's 3 point shooting has regressed. He is rarely set up for his shot like he was with Tyler. He's not catching the ball in rhythm and facing the basket...it's usually off the dribble with a defender nearby. Furthermore, defenses are really making him work, which can't help his legs either.
Owens has looked promising from distance, but he played a short stretch in the first half and looked completely overwhelmed.

Schedule has begun to get real in conference.Let's see if we can regroup and get 1 of the next two.

In league play they're 7th in eFG offense and 8th in eFG defense.
That is not playing well. At all. And that's with the Providence game propping up the efficiency.

Sean Jones was what we needed this season as a 6th man and competent ball-handler.

It's not just Kam and Jop, either. It's everyone.
But the thing that bothers me the most is how badly the shots are missed. You can see when the ball leaves their hand that it has no chance of going through the hoop.
Ultimately, this is what will cause our exit in the tournament. Kam will be better because it will be out of Conference play and teams won't handle his drives as well. We should also see more open 3s - I just worry over how poorly we shoot them.

This is basically the same issue that was covered a couple of weeks ago that MU was not playing like a top 20 team. Their season long rankings are built largely off of the good OOC wins. But in conference play (and actually starting before that- see Dayton) the performances have not been that great and they haven't been getting better.
MU has exceeded expectations. I was thinking there would be more of a glaring hole losing Kolek/Oso guys and somehow they're still sitting atop the big east ranks and 18-4 overall. A couple of those losses really should have gone the other way too.
Shaka has done a great job with the defensive identity but last night was a clear indication the offense is not always up to par. Kam's struggled most of the year from deep. MU lacks consistency on offense which is starting to show more lately. Who is going to show up? Issues in the front court with rebounding and overall production. Despite these issues MU is still right there and somehow found their way chipping back at the big deficit and almost pulled off another second half comeback.
They really need to figure out how to come out strong in the first half so they don't play so tight. Shaka really seemed directed at Kam in the huddle last night regarding his hesitancy to make mistakes and affecting his play.

Right on. This team, especially Kam, badly misses Sean at PG.
Not sure if it is anything but Kam has a wrap on his shooting wrist and it appeared he was holding holding his wrist for an a short time and trying to shake it off when he went down and was going to the line one time
Agreed with what others have said. Kam and Jop are spending energy in other areas which is hurting their shooting.
