In 2022, Cracked Sidewalks pointed out metric disparities in the ESPN-owned BPI metric that seemed to favor teams with ESPN media contracts over teams contracted to other leagues. As BPI is on the team sheet, that was a big deal. After years of bracketologists digging into these numbers, it looks like ESPN has changed the metric and brought it more in line with the others.
