Karaban has made only 3 of 21 three point shots in the last 4 games, far below his career norm of about 39%. I don't know if this is just a slump or if having McNeely out has allowed opponents to focus more on Karaban.
Whatever the reason, I hope that slump continues and that we don't see Karaban pull a Klesmit.

This is absolutely the biggest game of the year for the Warriors. The defending national champs must be stomped and go down. Hope they get boat raced. Stevie and Chase need to hang on to Karabans jock strap the entire game.

I am expecting Violence!
Stevie needs to calm the f down
Is Hurley wearing a t shirt with a suit coat?
They can miss a 3 any day now
I would recommend we force some misses
Didn't think the Feb Fade was going to start this early.
Time to get on the treadmill
I just don't understand how this team is incapable of coming out hot
Stewart is looking like Steph Curry. Jop still a brick from deep. And Kam and Stevie with biffed lay ups.
Here's a wild idea ... how about guarding the 3-point line. Geezus. Nice start. Again.
Damn kid won't miss .: 3 threes he never does that
No UConn fans in the recent Alumni section... We're sitting pretty.

It is crazy how many times over the years someone has said that about an MU opponent. Not that it's false
Punch back right now. They're hitting early shots.
We flat out get a horrible whistle at home.
Jop with a beautiful move and STOPPED
That was an easy lay-up if Jop uses his left hand.
Free shots on MU wrists tonight
Why is it so hard for our players to get fouls called?
No foul on 3?
Gotta convert chippies. FOCUS. And Kam must make FT's.
UConn is fouling every single possession.
Gotta finish some of these and-ones.
The drywall might not be safe tonight with the missed FTs and layups
WTF on FT's??
We're over-amped right now. Focus and score the ball.
Does Kam not practice free throws?
its a legit question
Team is tighter than a drum.
Kam needs to bounce the ball in his free throw routine like 100% of other D1 players.
"MAKE YOUR FREE THROWS!"
Hope they heard me.
The energy is there. It's about making FT's and easy shots. Jesus.
My JV2 girls team shoots free throws better.
3/8 from FT line. Jesus
Great D no O
3/8 from the line lol
Unreal
Did anyone tell them Uconn's defense is ass
Keep dribbling, Jop!
We're playing a click too fast. And Jop needs to stop doing that.
I want to complain more about MU players getting raked on the wrists on shots, but FTs
Fricking joke so far

Quote from: wisblue on February 01, 2025, 07:22:01 PMTeam is tighter than a drum.

Great energy on defense so far. They are making some tough shots.
I hate it when Jop drives.
I keep telling myself, you can't intentionally skip watching the first half of MU games... I'm just not sure
This team is now a joke on offense.
The only shot Ben has been able to take was when he was immediately double teamed.
Missed layups and Free throws. Boo.
Defense has them rattled
We've been getting better looks. Problem is we missed ours. They made theirs.

Quote from: MUEng92 on February 01, 2025, 07:31:17 PMMU has played nearly a half of a half and has no fouls?
My fault
The good news is that we're close to being in the bonus. The bad news is that it means more free throws.
Free throws no matta all you want
But if we go the entire game never making 2 free throws in a trip we are gonna get crushed.
What an atrocious display of shooting so far.
This is absurd. Make a fking FT.
Thank god free throws don't matta.
This is fuckin insane
6 fouls and 9 turnovers yet UConn up 12 which shows how pivotal shooting the ball is. Lack of shooting is going to do this team in
The moment looks way too big for us. We are choking right now. Energy is there but it's a choke. No other way to put it right now.
So pulling MU jerseys on a pick is not a foul?
Glad I looked forward to this all day. This one is teetering on checking out.
This team will be an easy bounce from the tourney.
Is giannis coaching FTs?
5 for 13 is ridiculous.
This is just pathetic..
This is quite the turd.
Hack a Kam
Prediction: Big, inspired comeback in the second half will fall short.
Kam at the line is a Fu cking JOKE
12 min., 3 FG?
Between this and the X game, not inspiring to be embarrassed on home court twice in two weeks.
Kam should go back to the hip holster routine
Weird ass game.
We suck
This is unfortunate.
Another slow start. UConn looks ready to kill. On another level offensively.
Keep it under 20 and move on to st johns bow down to UConn
You just cant have a star player that is utterly incapable at the line
As much as I love Kam. He is worthless at the line. Misses every clutch free throw and even through out the game has no consistent ability.
I think pardons are in order for any negative comments made so far during this abysmal performance.
This game statistically makes no sense thus far.

There's no way to sugarcoat our shooting right now. We have 13 total pts in 13 mins and have taken 15 FT's. This is about being tight and not there mentally. Playing out of control and without the proper poise or intelligence.

If we made our layups and FTs and not 0-fer from 3. We are up significantly.
We are beating ourself.

Embarrassing
Jesus. Insanely frustrating right now. These guys are completely out of control.
This is so weird.. down 20 in the first half. Pathetic losers
So this is what happens when we play like we do against a half way decent team. All big east season, with exception of a few moments, we have played poor yet still won. Thinking we are no where as good as our record at the moment

UConn ain't great but this ain't Butler where you can waltz back into it. So disappointing and on the home court too. Honestly didn't expect this at all
Not a game for a lot of underclassmen minutes
Hmmmmm... As I have said several times and have been voraciously criticized, UConn continues to distance themselves further from MU. Time to step it up Shka. Let the name callers start in 3..2..1
With how they have looked the last few weeks, they are staring down 3-7 to to finish the season.
This will be the ultimate Shaka second half if they can turn this around
We are not playing Butler anymore
This team is a disaster on offense
Complete embarrassment in front of our home crowd. We havent played a single great game at home in conference.
UCONN 14-20, 6-10 from 3
MU 6-21, 1-8 from 3.
And of course there are our missed FT's. Extremely upsetting.

Quote from: Vander Blue Man Group on February 01, 2025, 08:10:37 PMMy first game of the season so this is clearly my fault.

The positive spin.
We have 2 players on the entire team that have made a shot. And somehow only down 13
I'm weirdly confident. Of course I'm having my first drink in 1.5 weeks after fighting a virus so that could explain it too
Just sit back, enjoy a cold one and watch Marquette take apart UCONNN in the second half.
Very doable to get this win. Game was hanging in the balance to be a complete blowout. Could very easily be 27.
We've missed 10 FT's. We have 3 starters with a combined 2 pts and they're all experienced. This is simply about calming down and playing with poise and intelligence.
Tough half, strong finish will be the key to tonight's win

Could be. They could be a second weekend team, too.
The '11 team was an 11-seed and made the second weekend.
They've lost twice in the first round as a 5-seed.
Anything is possible. The only thing that is certain is, a lot of fans will have the weight of them possibly winning games going away when they lose so they can say "I knew it, we suck"

Ridiculous. Not to mention the clear offensive foul the previous possession.

Make it a 2-possession game at the 12-minute timeout
Looks like we are beating ourselves, not UCONN.
Just keep letting ball shoot wide open 3s. Its working super well
Wow, can't believe they didn't call chicken wing on Stevie
Ball is absolutely killing us.
UConn is going to take advantage of MU being forced to be over aggressive on defense.
They may not be NCAA championship caliber but they have too many good players and a good scheme to spot that big a lead.
Not worried. Second half team.

There might be something to that if it wasn't for the fact that there have been a lot of games like this. Against teams like Butler, DePaul, Georgetown, etal they can play like this, fall behind, and come back to win.
One bottom line is that this is not a good shooting team and in this era that is asking for trouble. When a team is hot from outside like UConn was tonight MU cannot respond in kind. I skimmed through the box scores and MU hasn't shot 40% from 3 since the Georgia game.
I am dreading to see what the offense and rebounding are going to look like against St. John's. But am hoping that MU can pull out an ugly win in a game in the 50's.
MU could have forced 40 turnovers and Uconn still would have won comfortably. They shot unbelievably well tonight. Soemtimes that happens where the other team won't miss and there's nothing you can do. Tip the cap. Don't know who Solo Ball is but he's a lottery pick.

Missing FT's like crazy is more than the stat itself. It's demoralizing. It kills any momentum and contributes to losing focus on the defensive end. Quote from: GB Warrior on February 01, 2025, 10:40:51 PMDid he say they'd practice them?
Practicing free throws is not likely to help much because it is difficult to impossible to replicate game situations.
I know that teams try to do that by shooting them in the middle of drills where they go right from something physical to the FT line or by putting some kind of pressure with a "punishment" like running for missing. But that still isn't like going to the line when hyped for a game, and getting up and going to the line after being knocked to the floor driving to the basket.
I do agree with the one poster who doesn't like Kam's "routine" of not bouncing the ball at all before shooting. But, if that's the way he's always done it, and that's how he feels comfortable it would probably be difficult to force him to change.
One rhythm dribble. Just try it. It's not like he's ever been a good FT shooter doing it his way.
