1. 37-12 run to end the half.
2. Apparently, MU'S break was used constructively.
3. Providence being shorthanded factors in.
4. Of course there is going to be a flat stretch. Death and taxes reliable. I hope no one was ever seriously nervous.
5. Remember when Stevie shot poorly? Y'all better appreciate him.
6. How about when Ben wasn't considered a Big East center?
7. Yup, still room for bench improvement. But they were doing the work and efforting.
7. MU took care of business against a shorthanded team on the road. Always something to celebrate.
8. Happy New Year, everyone.
Hey pretty boy, you said you wouldn't be able to do this so I put way too much effort into doing my own.
Just kidding. Happy to have your thread. Happy New Year!
Early dinner. FF through all the deadballs. I came close.
That was taking care of business on the road.
I am going to stress and obsess about only breaking even in the second half.
Boy it's great to be on the right side of a game like that.
Not taking this one for granted. MU broke their fans will to cheer. MU broke the friars will to compete. It has not been a happy place around here the last 5 times we played them there.
The Steal to TO ratio isn't as popular as the Assist to TO ratio is, but for this team it maybe should be.
15 steals - 5 turnovers.
That is a dream combination as a fan.

I joked in the game thread when the game started FS1 brought in the D team but they actually weren't bad. Easily better than everyone on CBS Sports Network.
Pat Driscoll and John Gaffney reffing and not only were there not 89 fouls called, but not a huge disparity in fouls calls at the dunk. Stunning.
also nice way to take drunk crowd out of the game:
Shaka: Defensive effort was elite, 12 consecutive stops in 1st half.
Says he saw fan 'with those beers a foot tall' and was happy to take crowd out of this one.
Great to see Zaide play well and hit some shots. If he can build confidence offensively, he will be a solid contributor. I'm excited to see how he plays against Creighton.
RE: #6 - my biggest concern going into this season was Ben. He's been adequate on offense, but my worry was D. I've watched him carefully and have concluded that his offseason work has paid dividends. He's not Motumbo but he's not the weak spot I feared.

One of them sounded like Jay Bilas.
In the end, Marquette only needed 4 second half points to get the win. :)
With all the stealing Stevie was doing I began to getting worried they would put out a warrant for his arrest.

Stevie caught more Providence passes than most of the Friar players.
Throughout the game, and particularly in the last few minutes of run together, the bench players were moving their feet much better on the defensive end.

Vin Praise knows Big East hoops. The play by play man is a unknown. I thought he did well.

Maybe I should have listened to them more. I still turn up Homer and Smith and watch the behind video most of the game. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think I'll be listening to Homer until he can't do it anymore.
Last night was the game I was hoping to see from this bunch. The defense was fun to watch and the offense had some very good moments. I commented after X game about not seeing the extra passes this year and last night there were a number of times the ball was moving all over the place.
I also thought that bench players looked better across the board. Do agree with Lenny that making shots makes everything look better, but a good performance by the entire team.

From the providence beat writer:
No. 8 Marquette 78, Providence 50.
Golden Eagles buried this one early in the first half.
Friars suffer their worst Big East home loss since 2003-04 -- 88-61 vs. Pittsburgh.
But last time I checked a 28 point loss is still worse than a 27 point loss.

I know Vin does Big East Media Day commentary each year along with Fanta.
