Jop, I think.
Kam and Gold were decent.
But wow Stevie that defense down the stretch saved us the game.
Not Shaka for bringing timeouts with him to Providence.
Jop
Ross for the trip at the end.
Honestly, Stevie for the key steals when the wheels fell off.

Agree on that. Jop had some great blocks and loved his o-reb and put back in the 1H. Not one of Shaka's better games.
Stewie.
Always.
I'm good with either Stevie or Jop.
Stevie. Defense.
Quote from: CountryRoads on December 21, 2024, 01:12:08 PMAgree on that. Jop had some great blocks and loved his o-reb and put back in the 1H. Not one of Shaka's better games.
Yeah. Shaka missed a lot of bunnies and committed too many fouls.
Kam. 20/8/4 and a good second half. He's the engine for everything we do.
Jop, Ben and Stevie were good too.
Quote from: Jockey on December 21, 2024, 01:13:32 PMYeah. Shaka missed a lot of bunnies and committed too many fouls.
Not to mention his free throw shooting
Ramsey
Jop but Stevie was absolutely GARGANTUAN down the stretch with those two thefts.
Gotta go Jop, I think.
Kam struggled but still went 20/8/4.
Stevie played well and essentially saved the game.
Scott Joplin. Good music today.
And 2nd, Stevie Mitchell for his dissonance.
🎼
Jop with a huuuge assist to Stevie.
Jop. Scored. Made some huge blocks. Solid D.
Stevie saved the game. Gold played very well.
Tre Norman wasn't the star, but he was very solid.
David Joplin, but at the under 4 timeout I messaged every Marquette fan I could saying that Marquette would need Stevie to win this one.
Jop
Barely over Stevie for sitting for a stretch with foul trouble.
No SOTG when MU doesn't cover.
Jop Wagon on O, Stop Wagon on D. 19 points, 3 blocks, 2 steals.
Major honorable mention to Stevie.
PS- Kam becoming taken for granted when 20/8 gets the ho hum treatment.

100% right on target. Jop gets SOTG, but Stevie saved it. Feel this was Jop's best all around, and clutch game at MU. Thought this was Tre Norman's best game at MU. He seems to be progressing a little which is great to see.
Kam had probably the most frustrating 20 point, 8 assist game possible, yet it is a testimony to how great he is, that this type of line was frustrating.

Agreed that Norman had some good minutes today.
I go Jop
Stevie with the insane D late
But Jop made a lot of big shots(when he stopped taking dumb ones) and had some great drives plus did great on D.

Mitchell goes out and X scored points.

Same. And he saved the game upon returning.
Stevie
Gotta go Jop. Did it all with scoring and defense. And he crucially stayed out of foul trouble.
David Joplin
Jopwagon
Honestly the rest of the starting lineup gets honorable mentions. Chase erased Conwell when he was in the game. Ben was solid on both ends. Stevie saved our butts. Kam Fed around and got 20/8.
Jop.
Though Stevie legitimately saved it.
I'm a big Stevie fan and I think his contributions to success are mostly overlooked.
He has a legitimate claim to SOTG due to multiple good plays, often from nowhere, that
we have gotten used to - drives when we're in a drought, offensive rebounds out of nowhere, and the like. This is in addition to his superb D all game long, not to mention his steals in prime time that likely sealed the outcome.
Today, however, I've got to go with Jop, who I recently described as the most exhilarating and most exasperating player I can recall. Many times in the past, I wished I had "I hate it when Jop drives" on cut and paste to save me time. To my consternation, he has improved on his drives, increasing the scores and decreasing the turnovers.
Also, and importantly, he has improved his rebounding and his defense. Gotta go with Jolp on the day he joins the 1,000 club.
Kam is getting the Markus treatment from fans. He's our best and most important player every game.
Quote from: BM1090 on December 21, 2024, 06:00:54 PMKam is getting the Markus treatment from fans. He's our best and most important player every game.
Kam is the best player on the team but, IMO, Joplin had the better game if you factor in both offense and defense. Howard was MU's offense. Shaka's teams are more balanced.
What do we value more, Kam's assists or Jop's blocks?
Jop

Shaka gave Kam a B minus for the game.

I'd agree with that assessment.

Nobody has argued he isn't there best player.... .Jop was more valuable today.....and he our Stevie will almost certainly be voted the domino of the game by the team.
If what you're saying is that without Kam they had no chance of being close today that's certainly true.........we don't have another point guard currently available.

Maybe my criteria is different and it's obviously subjective so I don't care too much. But Kam was our best player and most important player on the floor today, IMO. And he had 20/8/4. So he gets my vote.
If we're voting relative to expectations then I'd go Jop.
Certainly entitled to your opinion
I would just add that Kam had 1 more point on 5 more shots than Jop today......he also had 3 turnovers.....Jop had 1 more steal and 3 big blocks.
Kam also had the 2nd worst offensive rating of the starters today while using a Markus Howard like 42% of possessions.
He is a great player who had an off game for him.
Yeah, Jop is 100% deserving over Kam in this game and its not a Markus effect.
Of course since Kam is our only Pg we would be screwed without him. But in this game, Jop was all around better

Maybe I'm wrong here, especially since I'm the only one pushing this opinion.
But yeah Kam is gonna have games with turnovers. He creates like 80% of our offense and handles the ball 500% more than Jop because he's far more capable. But I'll let it rest.
Jop was good. I have no problem with that choice. Stevie was impactful too, as he typically is.

Kam having a rare 3 TO game when he has the ball as much as he does(even when all 3 were pretty bad) isn't the issue
He was less efficient shooting and Jop made far more impactful plays on D.
While Kams passing set up some of that Jop production. Jop having a handful of excellent 1 on 1 drives plus the D wins it pretty easy imo
I think the bigger dispute is Stevie over Kam. As awesome as Stevie was late, Kam was clearly the bigger impact all game.
Yeah.... It's Jop.
Very close but David Joplin. Honorable mentions to Stevie, Kam and Ben.
Joplin
im a stevie guy
