Our squad is banged up. Kam aggravated something in the 1st half. Gold toward the end. Chase of course went out. Stevie left it all on the floor. Zaide out. Sean Jones out.
Is it time for MU to re-evaluate its strength & conditioning program? If I'm Shaka tomorrow is a ton of treatment for the guys/film/no formal practice, and just a walk through practice on Friday.
Don't think so.
They will all be back and healthy enough to contribute soon

No. We've been relatively healthy the past few years. Very healthy the first two Shaka years. Last year just some rough ones at a bad time.
This year is the first time it's been a lot of nagging stuff early in the year.
I think if JTY is back he can really help our team and alleviate some pressure on Kam.

We agree. Team needs another primary ball handler.

Kam had 2 or 3 guys on him most of the game and had to bring the ball up the floor. It's asking a lot for him to make every play even with his stellar conditioning. He definitely missed some he normally hits but he also had to force at times. Iowa St. is probably the best defensive team we will face all year.

Not much you can do about most of these. They aren't fatigue or weakness related. Chase rolled his ankle. It happens. Sean tore his ACL cutting. Unfortunately it happens. Ben fell back into the basket, happens. Zaide, again a knee injury that just is what it is.
It's not like the Packers in the past where everyone is getting a hammy injury.
I blame the trainer for putting that big ISU stiff's foot right where Ross was gonna step.
Are they required to say Ross was ruled out for the half? And it happened pretty quick which is concerning for Saturday?

Chase was ruled out for second half against Prov last year, played right away
Granted he was banged up all year then too so hopefully that isn't a trend though

With 2 or 3 guys on him, it is the job of the coach to make adjustments to find the guys open. And Kam is part of the equation. Excuses for that are inexcusable
Shaka gave ISU credit. He said that if you asked Kam, Kam would say that it wasn't ISU.
I think ISU, MU and Purdue should form a conference of well- coached, respectful, high quality teams. Shaka's post game was classy. Maybe not as complimentary as Painter, but close.

JTY?
Muggsy calls Sean 'Jones the Younger', or JTY.

I would agree with Kam. Iowa State did good things against him, but he still got to his spots and just missed 6 to 8 easy shots that are darn near guarantees for him on a typical night.
Yep. A whole bunch of them got up on the rim, hovered, and fell off.
Easy to get all excited 'bout these early season games, especially against quality opponents. But, its all 'bout the BE conference games.
Having said dat, MU will be much better at Tourney time. And, MU would have beaten ISU on a neutral court or at da Fiserv, hey?

Yep to all of this.

Injuries happen. Chase's was a fluke injury anyone who has played basketball has likely experienced. Better the injuries happen now than in February or March.

On Reddit's game thread a few people saying that Kam was clearly hurting, but I wasn't so sure cause he seemed to be running around fine to me.
Maybe I missed it. Did anybody actually see Kam tweak something?

Just about every game he appears to tweak an ankle at least once or twice. Usually limps a bit after and then gets back to normal.
We need to shorten the season to eight games a year. #D&D

There was a point where it looked like he banged his knee/somewhere on his lower body and was slow to recover in transition. Looked like one of those things that can really hurt for all of about 90 seconds. He never came out and we never called a TO for him or anything, so I would assume it was minor, but adrenaline could have just carried him through the last 10 or so minutes.
*I am by no means a medical professional attempting to diagnose something I saw on TV. I just noticed him limping slightly for about 15 seconds.

This I have noticed. He did that a lot last year too, so perhaps I'm just conditioned to believe he's healthy/fine unless he physically can't get back up by himself.

This.
He rolled his ankle against Georgia and I'm pretty sure that's still nagging him.
I'm still trying to figure out what Stevie is battling.
So I guess Gold is good to go because nobody is talking about him here. That's a relief. Need him to play and have a good game on both ends of the court.
Anyhoo ...
Here's what the Washington Post said in its weekend sports lookahead:
No. 5 Marquette, looking like a team we'll be watching in early April behind senior guard Kam Jones, hosts No. 11 Wisconsin (Saturday, 1:30 p.m., Fox).

Was on campus this morning and walked past a bunch of the basketball players and Chase was wearing a boot. So not looking good for him tomorrow.

My guess is he's out but IIRC wasn't Kolek in a boot up until Illinois and the he had his best game of the year?

Yes. Wes would also routinely wear a boot even when an injury wasn't official enough to report, and almost always played. My guess would be he's out, but the reality is, no one here knows for sure either way, and I'm sure the staff would like to keep it that way.

Even if he can start the game and play like 8 minutes a half...his presence alone would have impact.
Vegas cares none about the Marquette injuries.
Marquette 7.5 point favorite.
Scoop is frothing at the mouth for a win tomorrow, but I'm sure Shaka will make the best decision for this team longterm.
The season goals should be win the BE, BET, and advance deep in March. Tomorrow is just one game.

today will be Jack's finest hour!!! Modern day Gary Rosenberger. Come in, no fear, drain a few from deep, do a halfcourt shuffle, ballgame.
What a win.
2nd half looked great from Section 209.
